Flinders Uni­ver­si­ty Ade­laide – Dean (Rur­al and Remote Health), Col­lege of Med­i­cine and Pub­lic Health

Flinders Uni­ver­si­ty is a dynam­ic, pro­gres­sive Aus­tralian insti­tu­tion with a rep­u­ta­tion for excel­lence in teach­ing and research. The Col­lege of Med­i­cine and Pub­lic Health aspires to be a glob­al leader in rur­al and remote health research and edu­ca­tion through facil­i­tat­ing the devel­op­ment of an appro­pri­ate­ly skilled rur­al health work­force. There is a long­stand­ing part­ner­ship between the Col­lege and Flinders Med­ical Cen­tre, and the Col­lege con­tin­ues to devel­op part­ner­ships with health­care insti­tu­tions through­out the Cen­tral Aus­tralian Corridor. 

The Col­lege is now seek­ing to appoint the inau­gur­al Dean (Rur­al and Remote Health) to lead and con­tin­ue to grow the University’s work in deliv­er­ing trans­for­ma­tive edu­ca­tion and health­care to rur­al and remote com­mu­ni­ties in Aus­tralia. The Dean will pro­vide strate­gic lead­er­ship and man­age­ment to the Flinders NT and rur­al South Aus­tralian loca­tions, includ­ing The Cen­tre for Remote Health, The Poche Cen­tre for Indige­nous Health and the North­ern Ter­ri­to­ry Med­ical Program.

The suc­cess­ful indi­vid­ual will bring demon­strat­ed lead­er­ship with­in a rur­al or remote set­ting. In addi­tion, indi­vid­u­als must have evi­dence of a track record of forg­ing suc­cess­ful part­ner­ships with com­mu­ni­ties, includ­ing Indige­nous com­mu­ni­ties, gov­ern­ments and health care providers across Aus­tralia. The role is open to appli­cants aligned with the med­ical and health sec­tor as the appointee will be expect­ed to fos­ter a cul­ture of excel­lence in research, teach­ing, pro­gram deliv­ery, and stu­dent ser­vices. The suc­cess­ful can­di­date will pro­vide lead­er­ship in enhanc­ing the pro­file of the Flinders Uni­ver­si­ty Rur­al and Remote Health dis­ci­pline local­ly, nation­al­ly and internationally.
