Federal Funding for Remote Health
The Federal Government’s continued commitment to the remote health sector and the important work of CRANAplus is welcomed, said President Paul Stephenson.
“It recognises the valuable work CRANAplus does for those who live and work out bush,” he said.
“Remote health access and care is an area that is often forgotten in the overall health debate. But it does need to be recognised that remote Australia has the geographic spread of Europe, with some of the most vulnerable populations, with the worst health outcomes in the nation.”
Mr Stephenson acknowledged that, in this constrained financial climate, some belt-tightening was needed across the board “with health not being exempt from this process”.
“For over 30 years now, CRANAplus has educated, supported and advocated for remote health professionals and those they serve in a variety of remote environments right across Australia.
“It’s reassuring to know that we now have sufficient funds to ensure that work can continue.”
