Racism. It Stops With Me.

9 Jul 2015

CRANAplus is proud to have joined forces with some of Australia’s leading businesses, sporting bodies and NGO’s to support the “Racism. It stops with me” campaign.

This national campaign has been developed through a partnership of government and non-government agencies and organisations.

Research from 2011 revealed that one in seven Australians said they had experienced discrimination because of their colour or background, a figure that has been increasing steadily in recent years. Research has also shown 70 percent of people agree that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous people are prejudiced against each other.

“In order to address the barriers to racial equality in Australia, we need leadership from all sections of the community,” said Professor Gillian Triggs, President of the Australian Human Rights Commission and Acting Race Discrimination Commissioner. “I am delighted that we have received such strong encouragement from our supporters.”
