Since 1928, the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) has been providing 24-hour emergency aeromedical and essential primary health care services to those who live, work and travel in rural and remote Australia. Today, the RFDS delivers the finest care to 290,000 Australians every year – someone every two minutes.
RFDS Central Operations is responsible for delivering these services throughout South Australia and the southern half of the Northern Territory. It operates three aeromedical bases located in Adelaide, Port Augusta and Alice Springs, as well as one remote primary health facility at Marree on the Birdsville Track.
The RFDS values the contribution and dedication of its people, who enjoy working together to provide the finest quality health service in a unique environment. RFDS staff enjoy enriching work which broadens their horizons, builds professional experience and delivers the personal reward of knowing they are making a difference in rural and remote Australia.
Career roles at the RFDS encompass management, medical, nursing, aviation, engineering, allied health, marketing & public relations, human resources, finance and information technology and support services roles – all of which provide many opportunities for our people to make the most of the talent they bring to the organisation.
