18 Feb 2019

Delivered by the Queensland AIDS Council this unique 4 hour workshop was designed to help promote a better understanding of the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender older people and people with intersex characteristics. The workshop aimed to provide staff with more confidence to deliver an inclusive best practice service. Staff from both Blue Care Mareeba and Carinya Home Atherton in Far North QLD learnt about LGBTI populations, inclusivity in aged care including what services should know and what services can do as well as the importance of Advanced Care directives for LGBTI populations. All evaluations received found the training very valuable. CRANAplus recognises that the aged care user cohort is becoming more diverse with specialised skills required to meet the increasing diversity of service needs.
