Department of Health are seeking applications for the role Registered Nurse – Community to work in Smithton, Tasmania.

The Hos­pi­tal:

Smith­ton Dis­trict Hos­pi­tal (SDH) and Com­mu­ni­ty Health Cen­tre is small sized sub-acute pub­lic hos­pi­tal locat­ed in Smith­ton Tas­ma­nia. It ser­vices the whole Cir­cu­lar Head region with a catch­ment pop­u­la­tion of 8000 people. 

The Hos­pi­tal has 12 sub­a­cute beds accom­mo­dat­ing gen­er­al med­i­cine, post-acute, pal­lia­tive and end of life care. We have a 3‑bay emer­gency first response unit staffed by nurs­es and Gen­er­al Prac­ti­tion­ers who are con­tract­ed to pro­vide on call med­ical services.

Smith­ton Com­mu­ni­ty Nurs­ing pro­vide a 7 day a week ser­vice to clients in their own home plus a clin­ic service.

Details of Appointment

Per­ma­nent Part Time Shift-Work­er posi­tion work­ing 32 hours per fortnight

Salary: $66,421-$91,807 pro-rata per annum + 10% super­an­nu­a­tion + access to salary packaging

The Role:

The Reg­is­tered Nurse – Community:

  • Con­sis­tent with ongo­ing expe­ri­ence strength­ens health out­comes through the pro­vi­sion of safe qual­i­ty, clin­i­cal­ly appro­pri­ate nurs­ing care in part­ner­ship with patients/​clients, their fam­i­lies and oth­er health pro­fes­sion­als with­in the defined com­mu­ni­ty prac­tice area. 


Suc­cess­ful appli­cants will be required to meet the essen­tial criteria:

  1. Reg­is­tered with the Nurs­ing and Mid­wifery Board of Aus­tralia as a Reg­is­tered Nurse.
  2. Cur­rent Driver’s Licence.
  3. Pre-employ­ment Checks.
