Australian Regional and Remote Community Services (ARRCS) have a full-time permanent opportunity for an experienced Aged Care Registered Nurse to join their team at Pulkapulkka Kari Flexible Aged Care facility in Tennant Creek.

ARRCS work began in 2014 with aspi­ra­tions to improve the qual­i­ty of life for peo­ple liv­ing in region­al and remote areas of Aus­tralia. Today, their com­mit­ment remains stronger than ever. They pro­vide sup­port to peo­ple across the North­ern Ter­ri­to­ry (NT) through Res­i­den­tial Aged Care and Dis­abil­i­ty Ser­vices, Men­tal Health sup­port, Child­care and Region­al Home Care ser­vices and School Nutri­tion pro­grams. They take a holis­tic approach, and a deep respect for all Elders and Abo­rig­i­nal Cul­tures is at the heart of our work.

What’s the role?
The Aged Care Reg­is­tered Nurse is to use best prac­tice evi­dence, deliv­er per­son-cen­tred nurs­ing care in col­lab­o­ra­tion with individual/​s and the mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary health care team and pro­vide clin­i­cal and team lead­er­ship, super­vi­sion and sup­port for less expe­ri­enced clin­i­cians and sup­port work­ers to achieve peo­ple focused qual­i­ty care in line with the ARRCS mis­sion.
Respon­si­bil­i­ties include, but not lim­it­ed to-

  • Pro­mot­ing a con­sul­ta­tive and col­lab­o­ra­tive approach to per­son cen­tred care plan­ning includ­ing par­tic­i­pa­tion by the indi­vid­ual and/​or the individual’s representative
  • Devel­op­ing, imple­ment­ing, mon­i­tor­ing, and review­ing care plans to meet a person’s health care needs and to pro­mote qual­i­ty of life
  • Ensur­ing report­ed changes or con­cerns in a person’s con­di­tion are act­ed upon appropriately
  • Assist­ing indi­vid­u­als to par­tic­i­pate in pro­grams and recre­ation­al relat­ed activities
  • Assist­ing with ori­en­ta­tion of new staff as required and in research rel­e­vant to clin­i­cal matters
  • Assist­ing in ensur­ing the ser­vice meets all accred­i­ta­tion standards

Is the role right for you?
To be suc­cess­ful in this role, you will ensure res­i­dent care is assessed, planned, and imple­ment­ed, and progress is eval­u­at­ed in accor­dance with the ARRCS mod­el of care and take into con­sid­er­a­tion each individual’s phys­i­cal, social, emo­tion­al, spir­i­tu­al and clin­i­cal needs.
Before you reach out and apply, we need you to have:

  • A Bach­e­lor of Nurs­ing and cur­rent reg­is­tra­tion with AHPRA as a Reg­is­tered Nurse
  • Com­pe­ten­cies in and knowl­edge of the com­plex­i­ties and chal­lenges involved in pro­vid­ing nurs­ing care in the con­text of a mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary team and aged care environment
  • Demon­strat­ed appli­ca­tion of evi­dence-based prac­tice and crit­i­cal think­ing to advo­cate for and imple­ment indi­vid­u­alised per­son-cen­tred care (in ser­vice con­text) with a com­mit­ment to con­tin­u­ous improvement
  • Abil­i­ty to super­vise, del­e­gate, and nego­ti­ate with oth­ers to deliv­er qual­i­ty nurs­ing care with a will­ing­ness to show lead­er­ship and embrace change in the coor­di­na­tion and deliv­ery of care
  • Recent clin­i­cal expe­ri­ence rel­e­vant to the posi­tion includ­ing evi­dence of par­tic­i­pa­tion in own pro­fes­sion­al devel­op­ment and com­mit­ment to main­tain­ing com­pe­tence and enhance­ment of skills
  • Cur­rent Nation­al Police Check, Flu Vac­ci­na­tion, First Aid Cer­tifi­cate, OCHRE card and NT Dri­vers’ License or a will­ing­ness to obtain pri­or to commencing
