About This Opportunity 

South­ern Queens­land Rur­al Health (SQRH) is estab­lish­ing an aged care edu­ca­tion hub in part­ner­ship with South­ern Cross Care Queens­land (SCCQ) in Chin­chilla. The pur­pose of this ini­tia­tive is to pro­vide high qual­i­ty clin­i­cal place­ment oppor­tu­ni­ties for nurs­ing and allied health stu­dents with­in the Chin­chilla region. The pro­gram will work with SCCQ, and oth­er providers in the region, to devel­op place­ment oppor­tu­ni­ties and inno­v­a­tive ser­vice-learn­ing pro­grams to enhance stu­dent learn­ing whilst pro­vid­ing high qual­i­ty health ser­vice provision. 

This is an excit­ing oppor­tu­ni­ty for a Clin­i­cal Edu­ca­tor (Rur­al Allied Health) to join us in deliv­er­ing this new pro­gram which is at the fore­front of rur­al health­care in Queens­land, to the next gen­er­a­tion of rur­al health­care work­ers. In this role, you will have the chance to sup­port effec­tive, high qual­i­ty rur­al train­ing expe­ri­ences for pre-reg­is­tra­tion Allied Health stu­dents based in Chin­chilla and the sur­round­ing region. We are seek­ing can­di­dates who have a clin­i­cal back­ground in one or more of the fol­low­ing dis­ci­plines: Phys­io­ther­a­py, Occu­pa­tion­al Ther­a­py or Exer­cise Physiology. 

These posi­tions will sup­port the super­vi­sion of stu­dents dur­ing rur­al clin­i­cal place­ments, facil­i­tat­ing inter­pro­fes­sion­al learn­ing oppor­tu­ni­ties dur­ing stu­dent place­ments, and enhanc­ing sup­port and edu­ca­tion to both stu­dents and clin­i­cians. You will have the oppor­tu­ni­ty to col­lab­o­rate with both facil­i­ty staff and the wider health com­mu­ni­ty to build upon your knowl­edge, skills and con­fi­dence in both super­vi­so­ry and clin­i­cal skills. You will be able to active­ly engage and par­tic­i­pate in research which is aimed at con­tribut­ing to an evi­dence-base with­in a rur­al health agenda.

These posi­tions are pri­mar­i­ly based with­in an aged care facil­i­ty in Chin­chilla how­ev­er place­ment sup­port and facil­i­ta­tion may also include loca­tions with­in Hos­pi­tal and Health Ser­vices, Gen­er­al Prac­tices and Com­mu­ni­ty Pack­age Providers with­in the region. You will be join­ing a wider Clin­i­cal Edu­ca­tion Team based across the Dar­ling Downs and South West Queensland.

About You
We are seek­ing a Clin­i­cal Edu­ca­tor with a ter­tiary degree in one of the fol­low­ing dis­ci­plines: Phys­io­ther­a­py, Occu­pa­tion­al Ther­a­py or Exer­cise Phys­i­ol­o­gy. You will have broad clin­i­cal expe­ri­ence as a health pro­fes­sion­al and at least 3 years of recent prac­tice expe­ri­ence. You will bring exper­tise in clin­i­cal edu­ca­tion and pre­vi­ous expe­ri­ence in the super­vi­sion of under­grad­u­ate health students. 

Our ide­al can­di­date will have a pas­sion for, and expe­ri­ence in, rur­al health edu­ca­tion and/​or aged care and a gen­uine com­mit­ment to improv­ing rur­al and remote area health.

What We Can Offer 

Mul­ti­ple part-time or one full-time, fixed-term position/​s are avail­able through to 31 Decem­ber 2023 at Aca­d­e­m­ic Lev­el B. 

The full-time equiv­a­lent base salary will be in the range $101,533 — $120,570 with an addi­tion­al 10% mar­ket load­ing, plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE pack­age will be in the range $128,947 — $153,124 per annum. 

The fol­low­ing flex­i­ble employ­ment options may be avail­able for this role: part time/​job share; some work­ing from home; vari­able start or fin­ish times; com­pressed hours; pur­chased leave; flex-time.
