Community Health Nursing West Coast, Tasmania are seeking a Clinical Nurse Consultant

The Role:

In accor­dance with Agency poli­cies, pri­ma­ry health care prin­ci­ples, legal require­ments and pro­fes­sion­al com­pe­ten­cies, the Clin­i­cal Nurse Con­sul­tant — Com­mu­ni­ty Health Nurs­ing West Coast (CNC), in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the Nurse Unit Man­ag­er (NUM) and Direc­tor of Nurs­ing (DON), pro­vides clin­i­cal lead­er­ship and sup­port to the health­care team by coor­di­nat­ing the pro­vi­sion of high qual­i­ty com­mu­ni­ty health nurs­ing, emer­gency first response and ancil­lary ser­vices to clients on the West Coast based on nation­al stan­dards and chron­ic dis­ease best prac­tice prin­ci­ples with­in a mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary framework. 

In con­sul­ta­tion with the NUM proac­tive­ly direct, lead and par­tic­i­pate in the devel­op­ment of an edu­ca­tion and research cul­ture. Sup­port the NUM in devel­op­ing, imple­ment­ing and eval­u­at­ing clin­i­cal prac­tice stan­dards, includ­ing mon­i­tor­ing clin­i­cal com­pe­ten­cies of the health care team, and active­ly par­tic­i­pat­ing in the pro­fes­sion­al devel­op­ment of indi­vid­ual team members. 

As a senior mem­ber of the health­care team, sup­port the NUM in a broad range of admin­is­tra­tive, ser­vice deliv­ery and busi­ness plan­ning issues relat­ing to the pro­vi­sion of com­mu­ni­ty nurs­ing, adult day cen­tre, home and com­mu­ni­ty care and emer­gency first response.

Details of Appointment

Per­ma­nent, full time, day work, posi­tion work­ing 76 hours per fort­night, com­menc­ing from as soon as possible.

  • Appli­cants should note that, for a peri­od of six months from the date of pub­li­ca­tion, this selec­tion process may be used to fill sub­se­quent or sim­i­lar full time and part time vacancies.


You’ll have access to salary pack­age a range of ben­e­fits includ­ing liv­ing expens­es up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal enter­tain­ment each FBT year + oth­er ben­e­fits if eligible. 

In addi­tion, the fol­low­ing allowances cal­cu­lat­ed on the salaried incre­men­tal point may be available: 

  • Remote and Rur­al Pro­fes­sion­al Devel­op­ment Allowance of $3,533 per annum and an addi­tion­al salary allowance of 10
  • Post Grad­u­ate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qual­i­fi­ca­tion type
  • Pro­fes­sion­al Devel­op­ment Allowance of up to $750 per annum 

Base Salary: $102,080 — $108,528 per annum

  • Salary range is in accor­dance with Nurs­es and Mid­wives (Tas­man­ian State Ser­vice) Agree­ment 2019

Suc­cess­ful appli­cants will be required to meet the essen­tial criteria:

  1. Reg­is­tered with the Nurs­ing and Mid­wifery Board of Aus­tralia as a Reg­is­tered Nurse
  2. Cur­rent Driver’s Licence

Appli­cants should note the fol­low­ing cri­te­ria are desirable:

  1. Advanced Life Sup­port Licence 
  2. Holds or is work­ing towards appro­pri­ate post grad­u­ate qualifications

The Head of the State Ser­vice has deter­mined that the per­son nom­i­nat­ed for this job is to sat­is­fy a pre‑employment check before tak­ing up the appoint­ment, on pro­mo­tion or trans­fer. The fol­low­ing checks are to be conducted:
