About the Opportunity 

Work­ing with­in a cohe­sive and inte­grat­ed team, the Gen­er­al Prac­ti­tion­er pro­vides a high standard 
of patient care whilst incor­po­rat­ing a holis­tic approach towards diag­no­sis and man­age­ment of ill­ness. This posi­tion will demon­strate a strong com­mit­ment to pro­mot­ing health, well­be­ing and dis­ease pre­ven­tion, work­ing in col­lab­o­ra­tion with local Abo­rig­i­nal and/​or Tor­res Strait Islander Health Work­ers. This is a FIFO posi­tion from Cairns ser­vic­ing Cape York communities. 

It is a con­di­tion of employ­ment for this posi­tion that the employ­ee be vac­ci­nat­ed against COVID-19 in accor­dance with the Work­ers in a health­care set­ting (COVID-19 Vac­ci­na­tion Require­ments) Direction.

About You

To be suc­cess­ful in this role you will have: 

• Ter­tiary qual­i­fi­ca­tion in Med­i­cine with cur­rent unre­strict­ed spe­cial­ist reg­is­tra­tion with the Aus­tralian Health Prac­ti­tion­er Reg­u­la­tion Agency (AHPRA)
• RACGP or ACR­RM Fellowship
• Cur­rent Med­ical Indem­ni­ty Insurance
• Expe­ri­ence in or a demon­strat­ed com­mit­ment to improv­ing Abo­rig­i­nal and Tor­res Strait Islander health outcomes
• Under­stand­ing of the his­tor­i­cal and con­tem­po­rary issues that impact on Abo­rig­i­nal and Tor­res Strait Islander peo­ple and their com­mu­ni­ties, par­tic­u­lar­ly in Cape York
• Abil­i­ty to com­mu­ni­cate sen­si­tive­ly and effec­tive­ly with Abo­rig­i­nal and Tor­res Strait Islander peo­ple in accor­dance with com­mu­ni­ty pro­to­cols and customs

Pre-employ­ment screen­ing for vac­ci­na­tion against Vac­cine Pre­ventable Dis­eases will be con­duct­ed for the suc­cess­ful applicant

Salary: $235,411 — $292,234 (annu­alised salary)*
