This role will lead the nursing team with support from a senior leadership group. This group is inclusive of a Clinical Nurse Educator and several Associate Nurse Unit Managers (ANUM – RN Grade 5).

About the Role and Team:

The Pae­di­atric Unit at the North West Region­al Hos­pi­tal pro­vides facil­i­ties for acute inpa­tient ser­vices in the North West­ern Region of Tas­ma­nia. It is a Lev­el 2/3 Pae­di­atric Unit that has for­mal links with high­er lev­el pae­di­atric ser­vices with­in our ter­tiary refer­ral cen­tres at both the Roy­al Hobart Hos­pi­tal and the Roy­al Chil­dren’s Hos­pi­tal in Melbourne. 

The Unit pro­vides acute and chron­ic inpa­tient ser­vices for infants, chil­dren, and young peo­ple up to the age of 18 years. This includes gen­er­al surgery, med­ical and men­tal health care for these age groups. All chil­dren and ado­les­cents with med­ical, sur­gi­cal, and men­tal health issues are admit­ted to the unit where they have access to wide range of ser­vices pro­vid­ed by an inter­dis­ci­pli­nary net­work of staff. These include social work­ers, phys­io­ther­a­pists, occu­pa­tion­al ther­a­pists, CAMHS, and speech pathologists.

This role will lead the nurs­ing team with sup­port from a senior lead­er­ship group. This group is inclu­sive of a Clin­i­cal Nurse Edu­ca­tor and sev­er­al Asso­ciate Nurse Unit Man­agers (ANUMRN Grade 5). Mul­ti­ple staff hold post grad­u­ate qual­i­fi­ca­tions in pae­di­atrics and there are many oppor­tu­ni­ties pro­vid­ed for ongo­ing pro­fes­sion­al devel­op­ment. We are also able to sup­port tran­si­tion to prac­tice (grad­u­ate) nurs­es and Advance Prac­tice Pro­gram (APP) nurs­es, and under­grad­u­ate nurs­ing students.

The suc­cess­ful appli­cant will be respon­si­ble for:

  • Pro­vid­ing lead­er­ship to the Pae­di­atric Ward at North West Region­al Hospital.
  • Ensur­ing the effi­cient and effec­tive pro­vi­sion of care, based on clin­i­cal stan­dards and best prac­tice prin­ci­ples with­in a col­lab­o­ra­tive and mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary frame­work by coor­di­nat­ing the clin­i­cal, man­age­ment, edu­ca­tion and nurs­ing research func­tions with­in the Pae­di­atric Ward.
  • Lead­ing and man­ag­ing the coor­di­na­tion of over­all patient care and is respon­si­ble for man­ag­ing the allo­cat­ed human, mate­r­i­al and finan­cial resources for ser­vice deliv­ery with­in the Pae­di­atric Ward.

Details of Appointment

Fixed term, full time, day work posi­tion work­ing 76 hours per fort­night com­menc­ing ASAP for 12 months 

Salary: $108,967 — $115,103 per annum + 10.5% superannuation

Suc­cess­ful appli­cants will be required to meet the essen­tial criteria:

  1. Reg­is­tered with the Nurs­ing and Mid­wifery Board of Aus­tralia as a Reg­is­tered Nurse
  2. Cur­rent Tas­man­ian Work­ing with Chil­dren Registration
  3. Pre-employ­ment Checks
