An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for a skilled clinical and operational leader to take on the permanent role of Nursing Director – Education and Research for the Department of Health, North West Tasmania.

Report­ing to the Exec­u­tive Direc­tor of Nursing/​Midwifery — North West (EDONM), this role is account­able for the over­all strate­gic and oper­a­tional man­age­ment of nurs­ing edu­ca­tion, research and train­ing across the North West, as well as sup­port­ing inter­dis­ci­pli­nary con­nec­tions, to advance exem­plary pro­fes­sion­al prac­tice and patient outcomes.

About You

Are you pas­sion­ate about devel­op­ing peo­ple? Do you have an under­stand­ing of con­tem­po­rary adult and work­place learn­ing prin­ci­ples and approaches? 

We are search­ing for some­one who is able to build pro­duc­tive work­ing rela­tion­ship not only with staff, but with edu­ca­tion providers.

An under­stand­ing of the require­ments of ongo­ing edu­ca­tion, research and devel­op­ment of a health facil­i­ty is critical.

Your com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills must be top notch, in this role they will be your most impor­tant tools. The list of skills should be so long that we can’t list them all here, but if we had to pick a few it would be your abil­i­ty to influ­ence, inspire and ensure a clear mes­sage is delivered.

You will be a leader with­in our health ser­vice. Your impres­sive list of lead­er­ship skills must con­tain the abil­i­ty to nego­ti­ate, del­e­gate and fos­ter a cul­ture of improve­ment. You will be a leader in devel­op­ing research skills with­in our team. You must be able to lead a team to design, devel­op, imple­ment and eval­u­ate edu­ca­tion and train­ing for nurs­ing and mid­wifery staff to sup­port and enhance their com­pe­ten­cy in areas crit­i­cal to the organ­i­sa­tion now and in the future. Devel­op­ing research skills for the staff with­in our ser­vices is anoth­er crit­i­cal skill.

The Role:

In col­lab­o­ra­tion with Nurs­ing Lead­er­ship across the NW Region, this role sets the strate­gic direc­tion of Nurs­ing and Mid­wifery edu­ca­tion and train­ing, ensur­ing we can meet the needs of the future, based on exten­sive knowl­edge of health­care sys­tems, work­force devel­op­ment, pol­i­cy and legislation.

Details of Appointments

Per­ma­nent full time day work posi­tion work­ing 76 hours per fort­night com­menc­ing ASAP

Base Salary: $128 929 per annum + 10.5% superannuation

  • Salary range is in accor­dance with the Nurs­es and Mid­wives (Tas­man­ian State Ser­vice) Agree­ment 2019

Suc­cess­ful appli­cants will be required to meet the essen­tial criteria:

  1. Reg­is­tered with the Nurs­ing and Mid­wifery Board of Aus­tralia as a Reg­is­tered Nurse.
