The WA Coun­try Health Ser­vice (WACHS) is the largest coun­try health sys­tem in Aus­tralia and one of the biggest in the world, pro­vid­ing health ser­vices to approx­i­mate­ly half a mil­lion peo­ple, includ­ing 45,000 Abo­rig­i­nal peo­ple, over a vast two and a half mil­lion square kilo­me­tre area. The organ­i­sa­tion com­pris­es sev­en regions, with a strong net­work of pub­lic hos­pi­tals, health ser­vices and health cen­tres locat­ed across rur­al and remote West­ern Aus­tralia. Our core busi­ness is the pro­vi­sion of qual­i­ty, acces­si­ble health ser­vices to coun­try WA res­i­dents and visitors.

WACHS Pil­bara is seek­ing to appoint a Region­al Direc­tor of Nurs­ing and Mid­wifery. This is an oppor­tu­ni­ty to pro­vide strate­gic and oper­a­tional lead­er­ship in nurs­ing across the Pil­bara in a lead­ing health care service. 

The role is respon­si­ble for pro­vid­ing exec­u­tive lev­el clin­i­cal and strate­gic nurs­ing and mid­wifery lead­er­ship, man­age­ment and gov­er­nance with­in the region. The role also includes fur­ther devel­op­ment of the region­al health net­work, pro­gres­sion of the health reform strat­e­gy, con­tin­u­ous qual­i­ty improve­ment and improv­ing patient safety.

To be a strong can­di­date for the role you will have: 

  • Sig­nif­i­cant expe­ri­ence in nurs­ing lead­er­ship and health­care management
  • Be recog­nised as a strate­gic, con­tem­po­rary and trans­for­ma­tive nurs­ing leader who can con­tribute to the over­all lead­er­ship of the Pil­bara Health Region
  • Expe­ri­ence in lead­ing suc­cess­ful change and devel­op­ing mod­els of ser­vice deliv­ery across the con­tin­u­um of care includ­ing acute, aged care, com­mu­ni­ty and men­tal health
  • A pas­sion to live as part of, and con­tribute to, a vibrant region of West­ern Australia.

Report­ing to the Region­al Direc­tor of the WACHS Pil­bara Region you will work in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the exec­u­tive team to assist and pro­vide ser­vice direc­tion, ser­vice coor­di­na­tion and main­tain clin­i­cal stan­dards and patient safety.
