The role:

1. Sup­ports the Nurse Unit Man­ag­er and/​or Clin­i­cal Coor­di­na­tor in the coor­di­na­tion of patient/​client care deliv­ery on a shift-by-shift basis through the effec­tive allo­ca­tion and pri­ori­tis­ing of nurs­ing resources. 

2. Active­ly par­tic­i­pates in clin­i­cal edu­ca­tion, safe­ty and qual­i­ty process­es, prac­tice devel­op­ment and oth­er clin­i­cal lead­er­ship activities. 

3. Assists the Nurse Unit Man­ag­er in sup­port­ing and guid­ing staff per­for­mance and development. 

4. Man­ages a clin­i­cal port­fo­lio and con­tributes to research and oth­er prac­tice devel­op­ment activ­i­ties with­in the prac­tice area. 

The team:

The Pae­di­atric Unit at the NWRH is a 16-bed unit; we are the only acute pae­di­atric inpa­tient facil­i­ty on the NW coast and pro­vide care to infants, chil­dren, and ado­les­cents through to 18 years of age.
The unit caters for a wide vari­ety of med­ical and sur­gi­cal con­di­tions. With a strong belief in a mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary team approach, the pae­di­atric team active­ly involves Phys­io­ther­a­pists, Dieti­cians, Occu­pa­tion­al Ther­a­pists, Phar­ma­cists, Speech Pathol­o­gists and Social Work­ers in the deliv­ery of fam­i­ly-based care.

Details of Appointment 

Per­ma­nent / Fixed term, full time / part time shift work, posi­tion work­ing up to 76 hours per fort­night com­menc­ing ASAP 

Salary: $67, 982 — $93, 964 per annum + 10% super­an­nu­a­tion + access to salary pack­ag­ing You’ll have access to salary pack­age a range of ben­e­fits includ­ing liv­ing expens­es up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal enter­tain­ment each FBT year + oth­er ben­e­fits if eligible. 

Eli­gi­bil­i­ty:

Suc­cess­ful appli­cants will be required to meet the essen­tial criteria: 

1. Reg­is­tered with the Nurs­ing and Mid­wifery Board of Aus­tralia as a Reg­is­tered Nurse 

2. Cur­rent Tas­man­ian Work­ing with Chil­dren Registration 

The Head of the State Ser­vice has deter­mined that the per­son nom­i­nat­ed for this job is to sat­is­fy a pre-employ­ment check before tak­ing up the appoint­ment, on pro­mo­tion or trans­fer. The fol­low­ing checks are to be conducted:
