We are seek­ing appli­ca­tions from enthu­si­as­tic and moti­vat­ed Reg­is­tered Nurs­es that are want­i­ng to expand their nurs­ing skills and knowl­edge, with­in our Com­mu­ni­ty Health Cen­tre based at St Marys’.

The Reg­is­tered Nurse will strength­en health out­comes through the pro­vi­sion of safe qual­i­ty, clin­i­cal­ly appro­pri­ate nurs­ing care in part­ner­ship with patients/​clients and their families/​carers.

The role:

The Reg­is­tered Nurse:

  • Is respon­si­ble to and receives guid­ance and sup­port from the Nurse Unit Manager/​Nurse Man­ag­er and oth­er senior expe­ri­enced Reg­is­tered Nurs­es for ini­ti­at­ing, imple­ment­ing and eval­u­at­ing qual­i­ty nurs­ing and mid­wifery care.
  • Where applic­a­ble, exer­cis­es del­e­ga­tions in accor­dance with a range of Acts, Reg­u­la­tions, Awards, admin­is­tra­tive author­i­ties and func­tion­al arrange­ments as man­dat­ed by Statu­to­ry office hold­ers includ­ing the Sec­re­tary and Head of State Ser­vice. The rel­e­vant Unit Man­ag­er can pro­vide details to the occu­pant of del­e­ga­tions applic­a­ble to this position. 
  • Com­plies at all times with pol­i­cy and pro­to­col require­ments, includ­ing those relat­ing to manda­to­ry edu­ca­tion, train­ing and assessment.
  • Active­ly par­tic­i­pate in and con­tribute to the organisation’s Qual­i­ty & Safe­ty and Work Health & Safe­ty process­es, includ­ing in the devel­op­ment and imple­men­ta­tion of safe­ty sys­tems, improve­ment ini­tia­tives, safe­guard­ing prac­tices for vul­ner­a­ble peo­ple, and relat­ed training.

The Team — St Marys Com­mu­ni­ty Health Centre

    • St Marys has an 8 subacute/​acute bed hos­pi­tal, Com­mu­ni­ty Health Nurs­ing, an Emer­gency Depart­ment, and a co-locat­ed GP practice. 
    • The cur­rent nurs­ing mod­el: a.m. shift: 3 reg­is­tered nurs­es; p.m. shift: 2 reg­is­tered nurs­es; Night Shift: 1 reg­is­tered nurse and 1 enrolled nurse. The posi­tion offers fixed term, casu­al, shift work (ful­ly rota­tion­al) work­ing as and when required. Com­menc­ing from 01 August 2022 until 31 July 2024.

St Marys is a charm­ing and relaxed town­ship approx­i­mate­ly 30 kilo­me­tres from the beau­ti­ful East coast of Tas­ma­nia and 128kms east of Launceston.

Easy access to an abun­dance of local beach­es and bush­land makes St Marys an envi­able cor­ner of the world and being close to Bicheno, Sca­man­der and St Helens; is an easy com­mute to your work­place. Although small in area, St Marys is home to some beau­ti­ful archi­tec­tur­al build­ings thanks to its his­toric coal min­ing set­tle­ments and in addi­tion to the hos­pi­tal there is a Com­mu­ni­ty Health Cen­tre, local GP prac­tice, phar­ma­cy, car­a­van park, cof­fee shops, local gal­leries, craft shops and a super­mar­ket – all man­aged by friend­ly locals.

Nes­tled with­in the pic­turesque Fin­gal Val­ley; sur­round­ed by rain forests – imag­ine vis­it­ing the Ever­creech For­est Reserve and Grey Mares Tail Falls. Or take a stroll through the White Knights’ walk – home to the world’s tallest man­na (white gum) trees; vis­it the Coalmin­ers’ Her­itage Wall pay­ing homage to the min­ers of the 1890s, and a leisure­ly dri­ve allows you access to the world-renowned breath-tak­ing Coles Bay and Freycinet Nation­al Park. Or you could spend a day in the Dou­glas Aps­ley Nation­al Park and hike to the mag­nif­i­cent Aps­ley Gorge. What’s that? You pre­fer moun­tain bik­ing?? We have that too – come and immerse your­self in North-East Tasmania’s MTB trails on the fringes of St Helens and the famous tin min­ing town of Der­by!!

Details of Appointment

Mul­ti­ple Per­ma­nent, full time and part time shift work posi­tions work­ing up to 76 hours per fort­night com­menc­ing ASAP 

Salary: $67, 982 — $93, 964 per annum + 10.5% super­an­nu­a­tion + access to salary packaging

In addi­tion, the fol­low­ing allowances cal­cu­lat­ed on the salaried incre­men­tal point may be available:

  • Remote and Rur­al Pro­fes­sion­al Devel­op­ment Allowance of an addi­tion­al salary allowance of 4%
  • Post Grad­u­ate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qual­i­fi­ca­tion type
  • Pro­fes­sion­al Devel­op­ment Allowance of up to $750 per annum 
  • Access to the Grade 4 salary range $87,970 — $93,964 is sub­ject to suc­cess­ful appli­ca­tion for pro­gres­sion to Grade 4
  • Salary range is in accor­dance with Nurs­es and Mid­wives (Tas­man­ian State Ser­vice) Award 2019
