The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (South Eastern Section) (RFDSSE) service is expanding and we are seeking skilled and passionate Registered Nurses with Midwifery qualifications and acute care qualifications and/or experience to join our team in Broken Hill in the position of Flight Nurse.

The Roy­al Fly­ing Doc­tor Ser­vice of Aus­tralia (RFDS) is one of the largest and most com­pre­hen­sive aeromed­ical organ­i­sa­tions in the world. Using the lat­est in avi­a­tion, med­ical and com­mu­ni­ca­tions tech­nol­o­gy, we deliv­er tele­health and a 24-hour emer­gency retrieval ser­vice to rur­al and remote Australia.

The Roy­al Fly­ing Doc­tor Ser­vice of Aus­tralia (South East­ern Sec­tion) (RFDSSE) ser­vice is expand­ing and we are seek­ing skilled and pas­sion­ate Reg­is­tered Nurs­es with Mid­wifery qual­i­fi­ca­tions and acute care qual­i­fi­ca­tions and/​or expe­ri­ence to join our team in Bro­ken Hill in the posi­tion of Flight Nurse.

As a Flight Nurse you will pro­vide emer­gency, inter-hos­pi­tal and retrieval in-flight care through­out the SE Sec­tion’s Net­work, an area of 640,000 square kilo­me­tres cov­er­ing areas of remote NSW, SA and Qld.

The Role

  • Pro­vide emer­gency retrieval services
  • Pro­vide reg­u­lar trans­fers of patients
  • Deliv­er essen­tial health care ser­vices to rur­al and remote communities
  • Sup­port and pro­mote Abo­rig­i­nal and Tor­res Strait Islander health
  • Pro­vide opti­mal care to patients pri­or, dur­ing and after flights
  • Ful­fil RFDS report­ing requirements
  • Under­take base, admin­is­tra­tion and oth­er ground duties
  • Be will­ing and able to work shift work across a 7 day roster

Essen­tial Criteria

  • Be a reg­is­tered nurse and reg­is­tered mid­wife with AHPRA
  • Have crit­i­cal care qual­i­fi­ca­tions and/​or expe­ri­ence (ED or ICU)
  • Have a min­i­mum of five years post grad­u­ate experience
  • Evi­dence of full COVID-19 vaccination
