Department of Health (DoH) are seeking applications for a Clinical Nurse Specialist – Hepatology within the Mersey Community Hospital.

Per­ma­nent, part time, day work­er posi­tion work­ing 16 hours per fort­night, com­menc­ing ASAP

The Role:

The Clin­i­cal Nurse Spe­cial­ist (CNS) — Hepa­tol­ogy, in con­sul­ta­tion with the Gastroenterology/​Hepatology Con­sul­tant, leads the day-to-day man­age­ment of nurs­ing activ­i­ties and edu­ca­tion to achieve con­ti­nu­ity and qual­i­ty of Hepa­tol­ogy patient care at the Mersey Com­mu­ni­ty Hos­pi­tal (MCH).

With­in a mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary team, the CNS — Hepa­tol­ogy will:

  • Pro­vide patient care in con­junc­tion with oth­er mem­bers of the spe­cialised health care team. 
  • Pro­vide nurs­ing exper­tise, case coor­di­na­tion, nurs­ing man­age­ment and edu­ca­tion for patients with liv­er dis­ease and their families.
  • Ini­ti­ate, devel­op and imple­ment clin­i­cal pol­i­cy, care guide­lines, qual­i­ty improve­ment and research in accor­dance with con­tem­po­rary best prac­tices and in con­sul­ta­tion with the mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary team.

The Hos­pi­tal:

The Mersey Com­mu­ni­ty Hos­pi­tal, Latrobe has 95 beds and offers gen­er­al and spe­cial­ist health ser­vices includ­ing 24 hour emer­gency depart­ment, gen­er­al med­i­cine day surgery and endoscopy, reha­bil­i­ta­tion, pal­lia­tive care and oncol­o­gy ser­vices along with a vari­ety of spe­cial­ist clin­ics. Mersey Com­mu­ni­ty hos­pi­tal is a ded­i­cat­ed elec­tive surgery cen­tre and pro­vides a mix­ture of gen­er­al hos­pi­tal ser­vices. The hos­pi­tal has close ties with the Uni­ver­si­ty of Tas­ma­nia through the Rur­al Clin­i­cal School and with TAFE Tas­ma­nia thus pro­vid­ing oppor­tu­ni­ties for com­pre­hen­sive clin­i­cal train­ing programs.

Latrobe has all the mod­ern ameni­ties and offers an afford­able lifestyle with fan­tas­tic prop­er­ties in idyl­lic loca­tions. It is nev­er too far to prime organ­ic pro­duce, true farm­ers’ mar­kets, a mul­ti­tude of food fes­ti­vals, nation­al parks, moun­tain bik­ing trails and so much more. Our dual car­riage way, the Bass High­way con­nects Latrobe to Devon­port and Burnie (10 and/​or 40 min­utes away) which offer city con­ve­niences. Salary: $96,967 — $102,473 per annum (pro rata) + 10.5% super­an­nu­a­tion + access to salary packaging
