Miwatj Health is seek­ing a Reg­is­tered Nurse/​Registered Mid­wife with a keen inter­est and skills in women’s health. To be suc­cess­ful in this role you will utilise expert pro­fes­sion­al clin­i­cal knowl­edge and expe­ri­ence to man­age the coor­di­na­tion and inte­gra­tion of mater­nal and women’s health pro­grams into remote Pri­ma­ry Health Care in East Arn­hem. The Mater­nal and Wom­ens Health Pro­gram Lead will pro­vide high qual­i­ty, cul­tur­al­ly appro­pri­ate and safe Mater­ni­ty Care and Women’s Health ser­vices to Yol­ngu women of the Miwatj Region. There are a range of ben­e­fits in this 6‑month fixed term posi­tion, includ­ing a com­pet­i­tive annu­al salary ($131,739 — $137,268 pro rata + super­an­nu­a­tion), and a Nhu­lun­buy or Dar­win base with fre­quent trav­el across East Arn­hem land in light aircraft.

Estab­lished in 1992, we’re com­mit­ted to secur­ing qual­i­ty health care ser­vices across the East Arn­hem and enabling Yolŋu pow­ered com­mu­ni­ty health and well­be­ing. Miwatj pro­vides cul­tur­al­ly appro­pri­ate, com­pre­hen­sive pri­ma­ry health care to over 6,000 remote Abo­rig­i­nal and Tor­res Strait Islander res­i­dents across 3 East Arn­hem wards. With a Head Office in Nhu­lun­buy, Miwatj also man­ages a Cor­po­rate Office in Dar­win, 7 fixed clin­ics across the East Arn­hem region, and ded­i­cat­ed out­reach teams who trav­el to 3 addi­tion­al locations.

Essen­tial Requirements 

The Mater­nal and Wom­ens Health Pro­gram Lead will be respon­si­ble for pro­vid­ing holis­tic and cul­tur­al­ly sen­si­tive health ser­vices. Ide­al can­di­dates will also have an under­stand­ing of and com­mit­ment to Abo­rig­i­nal Com­mu­ni­ty Con­trol, self-deter­mi­na­tion, and the issues faced by Yolŋu peo­ple liv­ing in remote set­tings; min­i­mum of 5 years’ expe­ri­ence work­ing as a dual Reg­is­tered Nurse/​Midwife, have the abil­i­ty to pro­vide best prac­tice lead­er­ship to staff and lead clin­i­cal gov­er­nance around Mater­nal & Women’s Health. It is essen­tial you have a cur­rent NT recog­nised Immu­ni­sa­tion Provider Cer­tifi­cate SA DoH cer­tifi­cate, Well Women’s Screen­ing Course with accred­it­ed Implanon and cer­vi­cal screen­ing training.
