Miwatj Health is seeking a Registered Nurse/Registered Midwife with a keen interest and skills in women’s health. To be successful in this role you will utilise expert professional clinical knowledge and experience to manage the coordination and integration of maternal and women’s health programs into remote Primary Health Care in East Arnhem. The Maternal and Womens Health Program Lead will provide high quality, culturally appropriate and safe Maternity Care and Women’s Health services to Yolngu women of the Miwatj Region. There are a range of benefits in this 6‑month fixed term position, including a competitive annual salary ($131,739 — $137,268 pro rata + superannuation), and a Nhulunbuy or Darwin base with frequent travel across East Arnhem land in light aircraft.

Established in 1992, we’re committed to securing quality health care services across the East Arnhem and enabling Yolŋu powered community health and wellbeing. Miwatj provides culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary health care to over 6,000 remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents across 3 East Arnhem wards. With a Head Office in Nhulunbuy, Miwatj also manages a Corporate Office in Darwin, 7 fixed clinics across the East Arnhem region, and dedicated outreach teams who travel to 3 additional locations.
Essential Requirements
The Maternal and Womens Health Program Lead will be responsible for providing holistic and culturally sensitive health services. Ideal candidates will also have an understanding of and commitment to Aboriginal Community Control, self-determination, and the issues faced by Yolŋu people living in remote settings; minimum of 5 years’ experience working as a dual Registered Nurse/Midwife, have the ability to provide best practice leadership to staff and lead clinical governance around Maternal & Women’s Health. It is essential you have a current NT recognised Immunisation Provider Certificate SA DoH certificate, Well Women’s Screening Course with accredited Implanon and cervical screening training.
