Prison Health pro­vides clin­i­cal ser­vices to adults sen­tenced and resid­ing at Alice Springs Cor­rec­tion­al Cen­tre (ASCC), low secu­ri­ty prison rein­te­gra­tion cen­tre with­in a mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary ser­vice deliv­ery health team framework.

In this role you will be expect­ed to employ your exten­sive knowl­edge and skills to pro­vide high lev­el pri­ma­ry health care nurs­ing exper­tise and clin­i­cal sup­port to staff and attend mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary com­plex care meet­ings in a set­ting that oper­ates 7 days per week offer­ing shift work oppor­tu­ni­ties. In col­lab­o­ra­tion with NT Cor­rec­tion­al Ser­vice (NTCS) coor­di­nate dis­charge plan­ning, and sup­port the NTCS pris­on­er Med­ical Exemp­tion Clear­ance (MEC) sys­tem that sup­ports pris­on­er employ­ment with­in or out­side the Alice Springs Cor­rec­tion­al Cen­tre (ASCC).

You will be a reg­is­tered nurse hold­ing a cur­rent cer­tifi­cate of reg­is­tra­tion with the Nurs­ing and Mid­wifery Board of Aus­tralia. Addi­tion­al­ly, you will have a demon­strat­ed under­stand­ing of issues affect­ing Abo­rig­i­nal health and the prin­ci­ples of Pri­ma­ry Health Care. All enquires are welcome.

As per mer­it selec­tion prin­ci­ples, an applicant’s suit­abil­i­ty for this vacan­cy will be deter­mined hav­ing regard to their knowl­edge, skills, qual­i­fi­ca­tions and expe­ri­ence, and poten­tial for future devel­op­ment. Whilst a post­grad­u­ate qual­i­fi­ca­tion is an essen­tial require­ment for ongo­ing appoint­ment to this vacan­cy all appli­cants will be assessed. If the most suit­able appli­cant does not hold the qual­i­fi­ca­tion they may be appoint­ed on a fixed term basis with ongo­ing appoint­ment sub­ject to them attain­ing the qual­i­fi­ca­tion dur­ing the fixed term period.
