As an expert clin­i­cal prac­ti­tion­er the role will pro­vide expert dia­betes clin­i­cal and edu­ca­tion­al ser­vices to remote clin­ics and clients in the Bark­ly Region. This posi­tion is recog­nised by the mul­ti-dis­ci­pli­nary team for their exper­tise and is a resource for oth­ers. The role includes the devel­op­ment of qual­i­ty sys­tems that sup­port remote areas in the man­age­ment of dia­betes and vas­cu­lar dis­ease. Inher­ent to the role is a sound under­stand­ing of the health issues affect­ing Abo­rig­i­nal populations. 

The suc­cess­ful appli­cant will work both autonomous­ly and as part of a mul­ti-dis­ci­pli­nary team in an extend­ed clin­i­cal role while deliv­er­ing evi­denced based care. 

The suc­cess­ful appli­cant is required to sup­port and mon­i­tor out­pa­tients to pre­vent hos­pi­tal read­mis­sions. Appli­cants will be required to have expe­ri­ence dri­ving a man­u­al vehi­cle and be eli­gi­ble to obtain a NT dri­vers Licence, trav­el via 4WD or light air­craft to remote communities.
