The Public Health Manager is responsible for operational management and leadership of the Public Health and Continuous Quality Improvement Work Unit, while providing expert clinical governance advice, public health response and continuous quality improvement (CQI) support to Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHS) (Member Services) and key stakeholders with the aim of supporting and improving the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people in Western Australia.

This posi­tion is respon­si­ble for work­ing close­ly with the wider PHC­QI team respond­ing to pub­lic health events such as; pan­demics and infec­tious dis­ease out­breaks; clin­i­cal gov­er­nance sup­port includ­ing audits, accred­i­ta­tion assis­tance, data col­lec­tion, col­la­tion and analy­sis; prac­tice man­age­ment solu­tions; adop­tion of best clin­i­cal prac­tice guide­lines by the ACCHS, stake­hold­er engage­ment for a vari­ety of clin­i­cal issues and to sup­port the lead­er­ship of the PHC­QI team. 

The role is also respon­si­ble for pro­vid­ing sup­port to improve the clin­i­cal prac­tices of all Mem­ber Ser­vices by pro­mot­ing con­tin­u­ous qual­i­ty improve­ment and work­ing with oth­er teams with­in AHCWA to pro­mote and endorse exist­ing pro­grams that pro­vide best prac­tice out­comes and train­ing devel­op­ment. This role will also sup­port and men­tor health pro­fes­sion­als to pro­vide a cul­tur­al­ly safe envi­ron­ment for Abo­rig­i­nal clients and com­mu­ni­ties when access­ing health services.

You will be a clin­i­cal­ly focused, expe­ri­enced man­ag­er who can lead your team and work close­ly with our Mem­ber Ser­vices to pro­vide expert clin­i­cal gov­er­nance advice, pub­lic health response and con­tin­u­ous qual­i­ty improve­ment support.

The posi­tion involves work­ing with­in a mul­ti­cul­tur­al organ­i­sa­tion where the major­i­ty of employ­ees, clients and stake­hold­ers iden­ti­fy as Abo­rig­i­nal and/​or Tor­res Strait Islander. Can­di­dates must be able to demon­strate an under­stand­ing of the issues affect­ing Abo­rig­i­nal and Tor­res Strait Islander peo­ple and their abil­i­ty to com­mu­ni­cate sen­si­tive­ly and effec­tive­ly with Abo­rig­i­nal and Tor­res Strait Islander people.

In addi­tion to the above skills and expe­ri­ence, the suc­cess­ful can­di­date will require an unre­strict­ed WA C” Class Driver’s Licence, and be required to sub­mit a Nation­al Police Clear­ance (dat­ed with­in 3 months) pri­or to appointment.

Appli­cants must be legal­ly enti­tled to work in Aus­tralia and will be required to pro­vide evi­dence of this, such as an Aus­tralian or New Zealand pass­port, birth cer­tifi­cate, or for­eign pass­port with a rel­e­vant work­ing visa.
