Descrip­tion

The Roy­al Fly­ing Doc­tor Ser­vice (RFDS) (Queens­land Sec­tion) is seek­ing a com­pas­sion­ate and ded­i­cat­ed Abo­rig­i­nal and Tor­res Strait Islander Health Prac­ti­tion­er to pro­vide qual­i­ty pri­ma­ry health care to the com­mu­ni­ty. Under the guid­ance of a PHC Reg­is­tered Nurse, you will deliv­er a range of pri­ma­ry health care ser­vices, work­ing close­ly with oth­er health pro­fes­sion­als to improve health out­comes.

Key Respon­si­bil­i­ties:

• Pro­vide holis­tic care to Abo­rig­i­nal and Tor­res Strait Islander communities
• Act as a liai­son between clients and health care providers, assist­ing with fol­low-up care and ensur­ing con­ti­nu­ity of services.
• Con­tribute to local com­mu­ni­ty projects that pro­mote well-being.
• Offer health edu­ca­tion to clients, empow­er­ing them to make informed deci­sions regard­ing their health management.
• Car­ry out clin­i­cal assess­ments, tests, and pro­ce­dures with­in your scope of prac­tice, col­lab­o­rat­ing with oth­er health care pro­fes­sion­als to devel­op care plans.
• Pro­mote health ini­tia­tives and pre­ven­tive care with­in the community.
• Men­tor and sup­port team mem­bers in a col­lab­o­ra­tive environment.

Qual­i­fi­ca­tions & Experience

• Cer­tifi­cate IV or high­er in Abo­rig­i­nal and Tor­res Strait Islander Pri­ma­ry Health Care (Prac­tice).
• Min­i­mum 3 – 5 years’ expe­ri­ence in a sim­i­lar role.
• Reg­is­tra­tion with the Aus­tralian Health Prac­ti­tion­er Reg­u­la­tion Agency (AHPRA) as an Abo­rig­i­nal and Tor­res Strait Islander Health Practitioner.
• Expe­ri­ence in pro­vid­ing inde­pen­dent patient care and work­ing with­in a mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary team.
• Strong knowl­edge of Indige­nous health and culture.
• Excel­lent com­mu­ni­ca­tion, organ­i­sa­tion­al, and time man­age­ment skills.
