The Role:
An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a dynamic clinical leader to join the West Coast District Hospital as an Associate Nurse Unit Manager. In this pivotal role, you will work in partnership with the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) and other senior staff to ensure the efficient and effective provision of care based on best practice principles within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework. You will assist the NUM with the planning and management of staff and resources, providing operational leadership through the coordination of day-to-day patient care activities, including patient flow. Your responsibilities will include ensuring optimal patient care, maintaining effective communication channels with stakeholders, and promoting a patient-focused model of care according to best practice principles.
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with a deep understanding of rural health nursing and a passion for enhancing patient care. Your role will involve fostering a culture of critical thinking, research, and continuous improvement. You will support the NUM in administrative and service delivery planning, driving innovative initiatives in quality safety programs and clinical practice standards. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be essential in building strong working relationships with staff and the community. Your ability to inspire, influence, and deliver clear messages will help ensure cohesive teamwork and high standards of care. Ideally, you will hold relevant postgraduate qualifications and have experience in Emergency Nursing.

West Coast District Hospital serves Queenstown and the surrounding communities, offering a diverse range of health services including Emergency First Response, inpatient ward, and a Residential Aged Care Facility, supported by visiting services such as Radiology, Diabetic Clinics, Physiotherapy, and Podiatry. Details of Appointment
Permanent, full time, day worker (with on-call) position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as you are able to join the team
Salary: $103,466 — $109,165 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Remote and Rural Professional Development Allowance of $3,699 per annum and an additional salary allowance of 10%
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type
