Tell me more…Tor­res and Cape Hos­pi­tal and Health Ser­vice (TCHHS) is offer­ing the unique oppor­tu­ni­ty to the join Tor­res & Cape Nurs­ing Relief Pool to work at Pri­ma­ry Health Care Cen­tres (PHCC) with­in the TCHHS as a Clin­i­cal Nurse (CN). The Clin­i­cal Nurse role will assist in the pro­vi­sion of Acute and Pri­ma­ry Health Care Ser­vices with­in the remote Abo­rig­i­nal and Tor­res Strait Island com­mu­ni­ties with­in TCHHS. Although recruit­ed pri­mar­i­ly to a PHCC, the role may be required to work in any of the PHC­C’s across TCHHS in response to oper­a­tional demands.

To be suc­cess­ful in this role you will have:

  • Pro­vide nurs­ing care to a group of recip­i­ents of Pri­ma­ry Health­care Ser­vices across remote TCHHS.
  • Act as a role mod­el for reg­is­tered nurs­es and unreg­u­lat­ed and unreg­u­lat­ed health­care work­ers in the pro­vi­sion of holis­tic pri­ma­ry healthcare.
  • Use evi­dence-based clin­i­cal prac­tice to facil­i­tate pos­i­tive out­comes for recip­i­ents of Pri­ma­ry and Acute health­care services.
  • Par­tic­i­pates in a mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary team, build­ing a pos­i­tive cul­ture of safe­ty, col­lab­o­ra­tive, account­abil­i­ty and per­for­mance with­in phi­los­o­phy of patient and fam­i­ly cen­tre care in Pri­ma­ry Health Care Facility.

Require­ments for the role:

  • Appoint­ment to this posi­tion requires proof of qual­i­fi­ca­tion and/​or registration/​endorsement with the appro­pri­ate reg­is­tra­tion author­i­ty or asso­ci­a­tion. Cer­ti­fied copies of the required infor­ma­tion must be pro­vid­ed to the appro­pri­ate supervisor/​manager, pri­or to com­mence­ment of clin­i­cal duties. Cur­rent reg­is­tra­tion with the Aus­tralian Health Prac­tice Reg­is­tra­tion Author­i­ty (APHRA) as a reg­is­tered nurse and cur­rent prac­tis­ing cer­tifi­cate is mandatory.
  • Par­tic­i­pate in an on-call ros­ter as applicable.
  • Poten­tial appli­cants are advised that Sec­tion 63 – 1A of the Aged Care Act 1997 requires Queens­land Health to seek a crim­i­nal con­vic­tion record report from the Aus­tralian Fed­er­al Police; con­duct a search of bank­rupt­cy records; and con­duct pre­vi­ous employ­ment and ref­er­ee checks.
