To be suc­cess­ful, you will have…

  • Eli­gi­bil­i­ty for reg­is­tra­tion in the cat­e­go­ry of Reg­is­tered Nurse by the Nurs­ing and Mid­wifery Board of Australia.
  • Demon­strat­ed expe­ri­ence in work­ing effec­tive­ly and har­mo­nious­ly with­in a mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary health care team and independently.
  • Demon­strat­ed lead­er­ship expe­ri­ence and clinical/​professional knowl­edge in the pro­vi­sion of breast can­cer nurs­ing care.
  • Demon­strat­ed high lev­el inter­per­son­al and com­mu­ni­ca­tion (writ­ten and ver­bal) skills.
  • Demon­strat­ed well-devel­oped ana­lyt­i­cal and prob­lem solv­ing skills.
  • Demon­strat­ed high lev­el of organ­i­sa­tion­al and time man­age­ment skills.
  • Exten­sive knowl­edge and appli­ca­tion of qual­i­ty improve­ment, research and best prac­tice principles.
  • Pos­ses­sion of a cur­rent WA C Class dri­vers licence or equivalent.

Posi­tion Profile:

Pro­vides lead­er­ship, oper­a­tional man­age­ment and nurs­ing con­sul­tan­cy for the pal­lia­tive care ser­vice with the region

Key respon­si­bil­i­ties include:

  • Act as a Breast Can­cer resource per­son for staff and patients and their sig­nif­i­cant oth­ers through­out the region.
  • Pro­vides clin­i­cal breast can­cer nurs­ing knowl­edge and case man­age­ment with­in the WACHS region.
  • Demon­strates lead­er­ship and role modelling.
  • Pro­motes main­te­nance of clin­i­cal stan­dard set­ting and mon­i­tor­ing, pol­i­cy devel­op­ment and change man­age­ment as required to improve the breast can­cer patient’s management.

The Coun­try Nurs­ing & Mid­wifery incen­tive pro­gram is avail­able to new and exist­ing nurs­es and mid­wives — across a broad range of patient-fac­ing roles — on fixed term or per­ma­nent con­tracts at 76 select loca­tions. Eli­gi­ble nurs­es and mid­wives can receive between $5,000 and $17,000 in sup­port over 12 months (WA Coun­try Health Ser­vice — Coun­try Nurs­ing and Mid­wifery Incen­tive Program).

Area Pro­file

WACHS Kim­ber­ley is the most north­ern health region of WACHS. The Kim­ber­ley region has approx­i­mate­ly 200 Abo­rig­i­nal com­mu­ni­ties, over 34 dif­fer­ent Abo­rig­i­nal lan­guage groups and 45 per­cent of the pop­u­la­tion are Abo­rig­i­nal and/​or Tor­res Strait Islander peo­ple. WACHS Kim­ber­ley con­sists of six hos­pi­tals, an inpa­tient men­tal health unit, three Com­mu­ni­ty Direc­torates and a Cor­po­rate Office. WACHS Kim­ber­ley pro­vides hos­pi­tal, com­mu­ni­ty health, pub­lic health, remote area health, com­mu­ni­ty aged care, and men­tal health ser­vices across the region through a ded­i­cat­ed team of med­ical, nurs­ing, Abo­rig­i­nal health, allied health, and sup­port staff.
