Miwatj Health Aboriginal Corporation is looking for a Project Officer who will lead a project to improve continuity of care for patients with diabetes-related foot complications, develop an integrated service delivery plan for Miwatj communities focusing on increasing preventative care and early intervention for people at risk of diabetes-related foot complications.

  • Com­pet­i­tive annu­al salary of $119,634 — $128,524 (RN4) per annum pro rata
  • Com­pet­i­tive annu­al salary of $113,785 — $119,569 (HP4) per annum pro rata

  • Mon­day – Fri­day, part-time (30 hours per week), fixed-term until 30 June 2025

Miwatj Health is an inde­pen­dent Abo­rig­i­nal Com­mu­ni­ty-Con­trolled Health Ser­vice. Estab­lished in 1992, we’re com­mit­ted to secur­ing qual­i­ty health care ser­vices across the East Arn­hem and enabling Yolŋu pow­ered com­mu­ni­ty health and well­be­ing. Miwatj pro­vides cul­tur­al­ly appro­pri­ate, com­pre­hen­sive pri­ma­ry health care to over 6,000 remote Abo­rig­i­nal and Tor­res Strait Islander res­i­dents across 3 East Arn­hem wards. With a Head Office in Nhu­lun­buy, Miwatj also man­ages a Cor­po­rate Office in Dar­win, 7 fixed clin­ics across the East Arn­hem region.

Essen­tial Requirements

The Dia­betes Foot Com­pli­ca­tions Offi­cer role will devel­op an inte­grat­ed ser­vice deliv­ery plan for Miwatj com­mu­ni­ties focus­ing on increas­ing pre­ven­ta­tive care and ear­ly inter­ven­tion for peo­ple at risk of dia­betes-relat­ed foot com­pli­ca­tions this role embed train­ing and sup­port pro­grams that enable the Yolŋu and non-Yolŋu health work­force to fur­ther devel­op com­pe­tence in man­ag­ing patients with at-risk foot” complications.

The suc­cess­ful can­di­date must hold Bach­e­lor lev­el qual­i­fi­ca­tions in health­care and a cur­rent prac­tic­ing cer­tifi­cate from The Aus­tralian Health Prac­ti­tion­ers Reg­u­la­tion Agency (AHPRA) or rel­e­vant reg­u­la­to­ry body ; will also have an under­stand­ing of and com­mit­ment to Abo­rig­i­nal Com­mu­ni­ty Con­trol, self-deter­mi­na­tion, and the issues faced by Yolŋu peo­ple liv­ing in remote settings.

This is a part-time fixed term posi­tion until 30 June 2025 and will involve trav­el to East Arn­hem Land via light air­craft. Please refer to the Job Descrip­tion for full details and requirements.
