Join our dynamic Medical Services team as a Senior Medical Practitioner, where you'll lead our medical team to delivering exceptional healthcare to the Esperance and surrounding communities.

The is a vacan­cy for Fixed Term – Full Time, Part Time or Ses­sion­al con­tract for up to 5 years with the pos­si­bil­i­ty of extension.

We are also open to flex­i­ble work­ing and job share arrangements.

About the role:

In this role, you’ll over­see the man­age­ment and gov­er­nance of locums and Gen­er­al Prac­ti­tion­ers, includ­ing GP Anaes­thetists and GP Obste­tri­cians. Your respon­si­bil­i­ties extend to pro­vid­ing pro­fes­sion­al sup­port, devel­op­ment, and men­tor­ship to our clin­i­cal staff, nur­tur­ing their growth, and ensur­ing top-notch patient care.

Addi­tion­al­ly, as a Senior Med­ical Prac­ti­tion­er sta­tioned in our bustling Emer­gency Depart­ment, you’ll be at the fore­front of emer­gency med­ical care, work­ing along­side ded­i­cat­ed col­leagues to pro­vide round-the-clock assis­tance to those in need. You’ll be required to work ros­tered shifts, includ­ing nights and week­ends, where you’ll col­lab­o­rate close­ly with GPs offer­ing ED, obstet­ric, and anaes­thet­ic ser­vices. You’ll also play a cru­cial role in men­tor­ing and edu­cat­ing the next gen­er­a­tion of med­ical pro­fes­sion­als, impart­ing your knowl­edge to stu­dents from the Rur­al Med­ical School dur­ing their shifts in the ED.

About Esper­ance Hospital:

Esper­ance Health Cam­pus is the major Inte­grat­ed Dis­trict Health Ser­vices for Esper­ance and sur­round­ing south-east coast region. The hos­pi­tal hous­es 12 treat­ment areas in ED, two state-of-the art resus bays, acute men­tal health assess­ment room, iso­la­tion room, two pri­vate con­sult­ing rooms and a pro­ce­dure room. It has two oper­at­ing the­atres, a new oper­at­ing the­atre, a day surgery unit, anew obstet­rics wing with two labour deliv­ery rooms, sin­gle pri­vate rooms, and a spe­cialised nursery.

About the Region:

The Gold­fields-Esper­ance region is in the south-east­ern cor­ner of West­ern Aus­tralia and is the largest region in the state with a land area of 771,276 square kilo­me­tres. The region is three times the size of the state of Vic­to­ria and just under a third of West­ern Aus­trali­a’s total land mass. The area offers astound­ing diver­si­ty and beau­ty in its nation­al parks and reserves, tran­quil euca­lyp­tus forests, wide sweep­ing plains, dry lake beds, low lying scrub land and spinifex fields.
