Join our team as a Clin­i­cal Nurse Con­sul­tant — SAFE and make a mean­ing­ful dif­fer­ence in the care and assess­ment of clients who have expe­ri­enced sex­u­al assault and/​or fam­i­ly vio­lence, deliv­er­ing crit­i­cal response ser­vices and engag­ing in pre­ven­tion focussed ini­tia­tives. This per­ma­nent, part-time role offers the chance to lead clin­i­cal excel­lence while sup­port­ing vul­ner­a­ble clients and fam­i­lies dur­ing crit­i­cal moments.

Work­ing with­in our depart­ment, you’ll pro­vide spe­cial­ist clin­i­cal lead­er­ship in sex­u­al assault and/​or fam­i­ly vio­lence iden­ti­fi­ca­tion, risk assess­ment, safe­ty plan­ning and exam­i­na­tion. Your exper­tise will guide mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary teams and strength­en our hos­pi­tal’s capac­i­ty to respond effec­tive­ly and respect­ful­ly to clients who have expe­ri­enced sex­u­al assault and/​or fam­i­ly violence.

What You’ll Do

  • Pro­vide clin­i­cal con­sul­ta­tion and case coor­di­na­tion for com­plex sex­u­al assault and/​or fam­i­ly vio­lence situations
  • Deliv­er edu­ca­tion and train­ing to health­care staff on trau­ma-informed care approach­es and sex­u­al assault and/​or fam­i­ly vio­lence ser­vices and process­es for the North West
  • Devel­op, imple­ment and main­tain evi­dence-based poli­cies and procedures
  • Col­lab­o­rate with com­mu­ni­ty part­ners, police, child pro­tec­tion ser­vices and statewide SAFE services
  • Lead qual­i­ty improve­ment ini­tia­tives and data col­lec­tion activities
  • Men­tor and super­vise nurs­ing, mid­wifery and/​or med­ical staff in sex­u­al assault and/​or fam­i­ly vio­lence response practices
  • Par­tic­i­pate in an on-call ros­ter as and when required

What We’re Look­ing For

  • Cur­rent reg­is­tra­tion with AHPRA as a Reg­is­tered Nurse 
  • Post­grad­u­ate qual­i­fi­ca­tions in a rel­e­vant field preferred
  • Demon­strat­ed expe­ri­ence in sex­u­al assault and/​or fam­i­ly vio­lence and/​or men­tal health, or emer­gency care settings
  • Strong com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills and abil­i­ty to work autonomous­ly and with diverse communities
  • Under­stand­ing of trau­ma-informed care prin­ci­ples and safe­ty planning
  • Com­mit­ment to pro­fes­sion­al devel­op­ment and evi­dence-based practice

Details of appointment:

Per­ma­nent, part time, day work­er (with on call) posi­tion, work­ing up to 45.6 hours per fort­night, com­menc­ing from as soon as you can join us. *notwith­stand­ing hours to be nego­ti­at­ed with the suc­cess­ful applicant.

Appli­cants should note that, for a peri­od of twelve months from the date of pub­li­ca­tion, this selec­tion process may be used to fill sub­se­quent or sim­i­lar full time, part time, and casu­al vacancies.

Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employ­er 12% super­an­nu­a­tion con­tri­bu­tion is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accor­dance with Nurs­es and Mid­wives (Tas­ma­nia State Ser­vice) Agree­ment 2023.

In addi­tion, the fol­low­ing allowances cal­cu­lat­ed on the salaried incre­men­tal point may be available:

  • Post Grad­u­ate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qual­i­fi­ca­tion type

Ben­e­fits avail­able to eli­gi­ble candidates:

  • You’ll have access to salary pack­age a range of ben­e­fits includ­ing liv­ing expens­es up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal enter­tain­ment each FBT year + oth­er ben­e­fits if eligible. 
  • Trav­el and relo­ca­tion assis­tance sup­port avail­able up to $15,000 for eli­gi­ble appointees from over­seas, and up to $10,000 for appointees from interstate. 
  • Pro­fes­sion­al devel­op­ment and accel­er­at­ed pathways.
  • A range of leave enti­tle­ments, includ­ing study leave and Pro­fes­sion­al Devel­op­ment Support.
  • Fit­ness Pass­port – You, and your fam­i­ly can access 40+ fit­ness facil­i­ties across Tas­ma­nia for just $14.50 per week per per­son, or $28.05 for a family.

  • Reg­is­tered with the Nurs­ing and Mid­wifery Board of Aus­tralia as a Reg­is­tered Nurse
  • Cur­rent Work­ing with Chil­dren Registration

  • Holds or is work­ing towards a post grad­u­ate qual­i­fi­ca­tion in the area of fam­i­ly vio­lence assault foren­sic and med­ical examination
