Oth­er sites for this posi­tion include Kal­go­or­lie, Esper­ance, Norse­man, Laver­ton and Leonora.

Eucla is the east­ern­most local­i­ty in West­ern Aus­tralia, locat­ed in the Gold­fields-Esper­ance region along the Eyre High­way, approx­i­mate­ly 11 kilo­me­tres west of the South Aus­tralian bor­der that sees more than 120,000 vehi­cles enter through the road check­points each year.

It is the only West­ern Aus­tralian loca­tion on the Eyre High­way that has a direct view of the Great Aus­tralian Bight due to its ele­vat­ed posi­tion imme­di­ate­ly next to the Eucla Pass – where the high­way moves out and above the basin known as Roe Plains that occurs between the Madu­ra and Eucla passes.

Eucla has a hotel and restau­rant, a police sta­tion, a golf club (7 km to the north), a muse­um ded­i­cat­ed to the Old Tele­graph Sta­tion, and a mete­o­ro­log­i­cal sta­tion. These, togeth­er with fish­ing, are the major activ­i­ties in the locality. 

Overview of the Role:

As a Clin­i­cal Nurse Spe­cial­ist — Remote Area Nurse Prac­ti­tion­er, you will play a cru­cial role in pro­vid­ing and coor­di­nat­ing pri­ma­ry health care ser­vices to com­mu­ni­ties, includ­ing those in remote loca­tions. Your respon­si­bil­i­ties will encom­pass emer­gency care, chron­ic dis­ease man­age­ment, child health, immu­ni­sa­tion, health pro­mo­tion, and edu­ca­tion, ensur­ing that our com­mu­ni­ties receive the high­est stan­dard of care.

Ide­al Candidate:

We are look­ing for a ded­i­cat­ed and expe­ri­enced Clin­i­cal Nurse Spe­cial­ist who pos­sess­es the fol­low­ing qualities:

  • Exten­sive clin­i­cal expe­ri­ence with strong assess­ment, triage, and emer­gency man­age­ment skills
  • In-depth under­stand­ing of chron­ic dis­ease man­age­ment and pri­ma­ry health care principles
  • Excel­lent lead­er­ship, organ­i­sa­tion­al, and super­vi­so­ry skills
  • Abil­i­ty to work inde­pen­dent­ly and with­in a mul­ti-dis­ci­pli­nary team, par­tic­u­lar­ly in cross-cul­tur­al settings
  • Strong com­mu­ni­ca­tion and inter­per­son­al skills to fos­ter rela­tion­ships with com­mu­ni­ty stakeholders
  • Proven capa­bil­i­ty in coor­di­nat­ing med­ical evac­u­a­tions and respond­ing to emer­gency sit­u­a­tions
    - Com­mit­ment to ongo­ing pro­fes­sion­al devel­op­ment and adher­ence to WACHS poli­cies and procedures

Key Respon­si­bil­i­ties:

  • Pro­vide clin­i­cal lead­er­ship and con­sul­tan­cy to patients while coor­di­nat­ing week­day clin­ics in local communities
  • Admin­is­ter emer­gency care, includ­ing trans­port, assess­ment, treat­ment, and referral
  • Coor­di­nate and organ­ise med­ical evac­u­a­tions as per WA Health and WACHS guidelines
  • Estab­lish col­lab­o­ra­tive rela­tion­ships with health and com­mu­ni­ty per­son­nel to deliv­er qual­i­ty services
  • Devel­op and imple­ment health pro­mo­tion pro­grams in con­sul­ta­tion with local communities

About the OPPORTUNITY
