Step into a unique oppor­tu­ni­ty to grow as a GP while deliv­er­ing vital health­care ser­vices across East Arn­hem Land. As a GP Reg­is­trar with Miwatj Health, you’ll train towards Fel­low­ship (FRACGP or FACR­RM) under super­vi­sion, work­ing with­in mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary teams that care for some of Australia’s most remote and cul­tur­al­ly rich communities.

About Miwatj Health Abo­rig­i­nal Corporation

Since 1992, Miwatj Health has been the largest Abo­rig­i­nal Com­mu­ni­ty-Con­trolled Health Ser­vice in the NT. We pro­vide com­pre­hen­sive pri­ma­ry health­care to over 8,000 res­i­dents across East Arn­hem, guid­ed by cul­ture, com­mu­ni­ty, and a vision of stronger, health­i­er families.

The Role

Based in our East Arn­hem com­mu­ni­ties (Nhu­lun­buy, Gun­yan­gara, Yir­rkala, Gapuwiyak, Galiwin’ku, Milingim­bi, or Ramingin­ing), you will:

  • Pro­vide acute care and man­age chron­ic con­di­tions in com­mu­ni­ty settings.
  • Deliv­er health edu­ca­tion to Abo­rig­i­nal Health Prac­ti­tion­ers and com­mu­ni­ty members.
  • Par­tic­i­pate in health pro­mo­tion, research, and pub­lic health initiatives.
  • Con­tribute to improv­ing sys­tems of care and health out­comes for Abo­rig­i­nal people.
  • Build last­ing rela­tion­ships with patients, fam­i­lies, and com­mu­ni­ty leaders.

Train­ing & Supervision

  • Work under the guid­ance of expe­ri­enced GPs and the Direc­tor of Med­ical Services.
  • Receive men­tor­ing and struc­tured super­vi­sion in line with NTGPE or equiv­a­lent GP Train­ing Programs.
  • Devel­op skills in Abo­rig­i­nal health, pae­di­atrics, chron­ic dis­ease, emer­gency care, and remote practice.
  • Gain hands-on expe­ri­ence in Com­mu­ni­care, CARPA guide­lines, and Medicare processes.

Col­lab­o­ra­tion

You will work close­ly with:

  • Inter­nal teams: Clin­ic Man­agers, Abo­rig­i­nal Health Prac­ti­tion­ers, Reg­is­tered Nurs­es, Mid­wives, and Coor­di­na­tors (e.g. Child Health, Chron­ic Disease).
  • Exter­nal part­ners: Gove Dis­trict Hos­pi­tal, NT Health, pathology/​radiology providers, and vis­it­ing specialists.

What We Offer

  • Salary (pro rata + 12% super­an­nu­a­tion):
    • $150,000 – Nhu­lun­buy, Gun­yan­gara, Yir­rkala
    • $175,000 – Gapuwiyak, Galiwin’ku, Milingim­bi, Ramingining
  • Access to $15,900 salary pack­ag­ing + $2,650 meal & enter­tain­ment card through CBB.
  • Com­pre­hen­sive leave enti­tle­ments includ­ing annu­al leave, Miwatj Annu­al Leave Trav­el Assis­tance (up to $2,035 pa), Fares Out Leave, per­son­al leave, and com­pas­sion­ate leave.
  • Pro­fes­sion­al devel­op­ment: Up to 4 weeks com­bined study and pro­fes­sion­al devel­op­ment leave, with up to $2,000 pa study assis­tance, train­ing oppor­tu­ni­ties, and expo­sure to diverse clin­i­cal practice.

Suc­cess­ful can­di­dates may be eli­gi­ble for the NT Thrive Relo­ca­tion Grant – finan­cial sup­port of up to $10,000 to assist with mov­ing, hous­ing, well­be­ing, cul­tur­al train­ing, short cours­es and pro­fes­sion­al upskilling when relo­cat­ing to the North­ern Ter­ri­to­ry.
