An amaz­ing oppor­tu­ni­ty is avail­able with­in the East Arn­hem Pop­u­la­tion Pri­ma­ry Health Care team to work as part of a mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary health team and engage close­ly with oth­er ser­vice providers.

As the Abo­rig­i­nal Health Prac­ti­tion­er Men’s Health, you will be respon­si­ble for over­see­ing and man­ag­ing the Men’s Health pro­gram on the four com­mu­ni­ties in the Groote Eylandt Arch­i­pel­ago, requir­ing close col­lab­o­ra­tion with the Man­ag­er of Pop­u­la­tion Health, and Direc­tor of Pri­ma­ry Health Care for East Arn­hem Region.

You will work close­ly with the Remote Area Clin­ic staff includ­ing Remote Area Nurs­es, Clin­ic Man­agers and Gen­er­al Prac­ti­tion­ers to pro­vide a proac­tive and pre­ven­ta­tive approach to ser­vice deliv­ery in this high pri­or­i­ty program.

To be suc­cess­ful, you will have:

  • Cur­rent reg­is­tra­tion with the Abo­rig­i­nal and Tor­res Strait Islander Health Prac­tice Board.
  • Demon­strat­ed expe­ri­ence in pro­gram man­age­ment skills.

Hous­ing for this posi­tion is based in Nhu­lun­buy with the intent to move the posi­tion to Alyan­gu­la, Groote Eylandt (Australia’s third largest Island) which has a pop­u­la­tion of approx. 1,500 when hous­ing becomes avail­able. It has all essen­tial ser­vices includ­ing a school, a pri­ma­ry health care clin­ic, shop­ping com­plex, child­care cen­tres, recre­ation club, nine-hole golf course and sport­ing facilities.
