About the role

We are cur­rent­ly look­ing for Gen­er­al Prac­ti­tion­ers (GPs) to join our team. 

The Gen­er­al Prac­ti­tion­er (GP), Urgent Care over­sees and pro­vides cul­tur­al­ly safe high qual­i­ty health care to Con­gress clients and oth­ers pre­sent­ing to the Con­gress Urgent Care Clin­ic dur­ing the pre­scribed hour’s peri­ods agreed with the Com­mon­wealth Gov­ern­ment. The range of health care con­di­tions that war­rant urgent care will be deter­mined by this con­tract. The posi­tion works to the prin­ci­ples, val­ues and phi­los­o­phy of Con­gress as an Abo­rig­i­nal com­mu­ni­ty con­trolled health ser­vice with the aim of pro­vid­ing qual­i­ty med­ical care to those who would oth­er­wise need to attend the hos­pi­tal emer­gency department.

• Shifts will be 12pm to 8pm Mon — Fri, and 12pm-4pm Sat and Sun
• The GPs must have some emer­gency expe­ri­ence and be will­ing to under­take Xray train­ing if required. GPs will work with a nurse as a team. A nurse man­ag­er will be avail­able dur­ing most shifts.

Clin­ic hours are week­days Mon­day to Fri­day 12:00pm — 8:00pm & week­ends 12:00pm — 4:00pm.

The posi­tion works with­in a mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary team includ­ing Gen­er­al Prac­ti­tion­ers, Reg­is­tered Nurs­es, Abo­rig­i­nal Health Prac­ti­tion­ers and Med­ical Recep­tion­ists. The team may involve the care of Allied Health Prac­ti­tion­ers, Abo­rig­i­nal Liai­son Offi­cers and Trans­port Offi­cers dur­ing work­ing hours. The posi­tion reports to the Med­ical Direc­tor and will col­lab­o­rate with the Urgent Care Man­ag­er in the pro­vi­sion of services
