This is an open-end­ed” recruit­ment pool, and as such the fol­low­ing should be noted:

  • The pan­el will mon­i­tor this recruit­ment pool for appli­ca­tions and will assess on a reg­u­lar basis.
  • Suit­able appli­cants will be placed in a pool from which appoint­ments may be made when sim­i­lar vacan­cies occur.

To be suc­cess­ful, you will have…

  • Demon­strate a proven suc­cess­ful record of pro­fes­sion­al clin­i­cal lead­er­ship expe­ri­ence and advanced clin­i­cal prac­tice and knowl­edge in can­cer services.
  • Demon­strat­ed abil­i­ty to man­age human and mate­r­i­al resources with­in pol­i­cy and bud­getary expectations.
  • Demon­strat­ed advanced inter­per­son­al, com­mu­ni­ca­tion (writ­ten and ver­bal), nego­ti­a­tion and change man­age­ment skills.
  • Demon­strat­ed knowl­edge and expe­ri­ence of clin­i­cal gov­er­nance sys­tems, and in the appli­ca­tion of research and best prac­tice principles.
  • Demon­strat­ed dig­i­tal capa­bil­i­ty across clin­i­cal sys­tems and plat­forms that con­tribute to can­cer con­trol activ­i­ties, data col­lec­tion and reporting.
  • Knowl­edge and under­stand­ing of rur­al and remote issues relat­ed to nurs­ing and ser­vice delivery.

Posi­tion Profile:

This posi­tion pro­vides con­ti­nu­ity of mid­wifery car­er with­in a case­load mid­wifery led mod­el through­out the con­tin­u­um of preg­nan­cy, labour, birth and the post­na­tal peri­od. The mid­wife works with­in a group prac­tice and pro­vides sup­port and back­up for the woman either at home or in the hos­pi­tal. The empha­sis is on the pro­vi­sion of safe, effec­tive care in col­lab­o­ra­tion with a mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary team. With­in the mid­wifery group prac­tice the woman and her fam­i­ly is cen­tral to the care and pro­vid­ed in a cul­tur­al­ly appro­pri­ate manner.

The Coun­try Nurs­ing & Mid­wifery incen­tive pro­gram is avail­able to new and exist­ing nurs­es and mid­wives — across a broad range of patient-fac­ing roles — on fixed term or per­ma­nent con­tracts at 76 select loca­tions. Eli­gi­ble nurs­es and mid­wives can receive between $5,000 and $17,000 in sup­port over 12 months (WA Coun­try Health Ser­vice — Coun­try Nurs­ing and Mid­wifery Incen­tive Pro­gram).

The WA Coun­try Health Ser­vice (WACHS) Mid­west health region of West­ern Aus­tralia cov­ers more than 470,000 square kilo­me­tres, near­ly one fifth of the State, with its pop­u­la­tion con­cen­trat­ed along the coast. The region is locat­ed in the north­ern mid­dle sec­tion of West­ern Aus­tralia and incor­po­rates three health dis­tricts — Gas­coyne, Ger­ald­ton, Mid­west and Murchi­son, is recog­nised for its unique nat­ur­al envi­ron­ment and is a cul­tur­al­ly diverse region with Abo­rig­i­nal peo­ple rep­re­sent­ing 13% of the over­all population.
