Established in 1998, Katherine West Health Board (KWHB) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled organisation that provides a range of clinical, preventative and public health services to clients in the Katherine West Region of the Northern Territory. With four major health care centres and a range of satellite centres, KWHB services an area over two times the size of Tasmania (162,000km²), helping to improve the health and wellbeing of some of the most remote communities in Australia.

Katherine West Health Board (KWHB) is currently looking for a Healing Spirits Project Officer to join their team for an opportunity in the Katherine West region in the NT. This position will be well suited to someone with experience in delivering community health programs, preferably in suicide prevention or mental health. The role focuses on direct community engagement, conducting training sessions, supporting the development of suicide prevention resources, and contributing to policy development for regional mental health initiatives. Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
- Assist in conducting needs assessments, including literature reviews and community consultations, to document current programs and resources.
- Assist with the implementation of the co-designed suicide prevention intervention plan through direct community engagement.
- Assist with the delivery of Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) education sessions, including Aboriginal Mental Health First Aid, trauma training, and Deadly Thinking Youth, across seven KWHB communities.
- Work Collaboratively with other programs such as Social and Emotional Wellbeing, Alcohol and Other Drugs and the Health Promotion team.
