KAMS now has an opportunity for a Maternal and Child Health Aboriginal Health Worker to join their friendly, multidisciplinary team in Broome WA, on a full-time basis.

The Mid­wife and Child Health Nurse pro­vides clin­i­cal care and advice and the Mater­nal and Child Health Abo­rig­i­nal Health Work­er trans­lates this infor­ma­tion to ensure the health mes­sages are under­stood, and helps facil­i­tate the inter­ac­tion between indi­vid­u­als, fam­i­ly groups, and the community.

Some of your key respon­si­bil­i­ties will include:

  • Devel­op rela­tion­ships and improve com­mu­ni­ca­tion between clients and ser­vice providers
  • Facil­i­tate the con­ti­nu­ity of care and care coor­di­na­tion for Bea­gle Bay and Bidyadan­ga clients access­ing mater­nal and child health services.
  • Facil­i­tate and par­tic­i­pate in the deliv­ery of health edu­ca­tion and sup­port groups.
  • Com­ply with the orga­ni­za­tion­al require­ments of the positio

The ide­al can­di­date will be a Abo­rig­i­nal Health Work­er — Cer­tifi­cate IV, who is reg­is­tered or is eli­gi­ble for reg­is­tra­tion with, AHPRA

Expe­ri­ence with clin­i­cal data­base sys­tems and pro­fi­cien­cy with Microsoft Word and Excel will be high­ly regard­ed. Due to the nature of this role, a cur­rent man­u­al driver’s licence with the capac­i­ty to dri­ve a 4WD is required. 

Please note: It is a require­ment that suc­cess­ful can­di­dates hold a cur­rent, or be will­ing to under­go a Nation­al Police Check pri­or to employ­ment with KAMS.

  • Dis­trict allowance $3,042 p.a (sin­gle), $6,083 (depen­dant);
  • Accom­mo­da­tion Allowance $13,000
  • Elec­tric­i­ty Allowance $1,440
  • Annu­al air­fares sub­sidy to the val­ue of $1,285 p.a. (after 12 months of service);
  • 5 weeks leave p.a. (pro rata)
