Tell me more…The Mid­wifery Unit Man­ag­er (MUM) Mid­wifery Group Prac­tice is a Reg­is­tered Mid­wife who pro­vides advanced man­age­ment, coor­di­na­tion of clin­i­cal prac­tice and pro­fes­sion­al mid­wifery lead­er­ship, sup­port­ing oper­a­tion and strate­gic direc­tion in a spe­cif­ic area of prac­tice sup­port­ing the gen­er­al func­tion of the organ­i­sa­tion through the appli­ca­tion of spe­cial­ist knowl­edge, best prac­tice, lead­er­ship, gov­er­nance, qual­i­ty activ­i­ties and change management.

To be suc­cess­ful in this role you will have:

  • Pro­vide mid­wifery lead­er­ship to effec­tive­ly plan, man­age and eval­u­ate the Cook­town Mater­ni­ty ser­vice to achieve organ­i­sa­tion­al goals.
  • Account­able for pro­vid­ing sound pro­fes­sion­al lead­er­ship in deal­ing with sig­nif­i­cant issues relat­ed to assess­ment, plan­ning, review, eval­u­a­tion, and coor­di­na­tion of ser­vice pro­grams in a defined prac­tice area for groups and indi­vid­u­als with diverse requirements.
  • Account­able for own deci­sions, actions, behav­iours, and stan­dards includ­ing mon­i­tor­ing and eval­u­at­ing activ­i­ties del­e­gat­ed to others.
  • Devel­op and imple­ment man­age­ment sup­port for change process­es, risk man­age­ment prac­tices and ser­vice improve­ment activities.

Require­ments for the role:

  • May need to par­tic­i­pate in clin­i­cal care on an emer­gent basis to meet organ­i­sa­tion­al need and/​or in oth­er clin­i­cal areas.
  • Poten­tial appli­cants are advised that Sec­tion 63 – 1A of the Aged Care Act 1997 requires Queens­land Health to seek a crim­i­nal con­vic­tion record report from the Aus­tralian Fed­er­al Police; con­duct a search of bank­rupt­cy records; and con­duct pre­vi­ous employ­ment and ref­er­ee checks.
