Working in a team of 2 with support from Darwin and Alice Springs Centre for Disease Control medical and nursing staff, the role is busy, interesting and dynamic as no two work days will be the same.
Delivering front line services supporting the Sexual Health and HIV program, Tuberculosis, Leprosy, Surveillance, Immunisation, Rheumatic Heart Disease and other public health initiatives, including outbreak response, requires a well-rounded and experienced practitioner. Excellent communication skills with other health providers and diverse clients is essential.
Tennant Creek is the heart of the outback and is a busy and well serviced, friendly and thriving town. It offers childcare, primary and secondary schooling, a public pool, pubs, clubs and restaurants, a youth centre with free exciting activities, an excellent GP service and a local airport with connecting flights to Darwin and Alice Springs.
It is a 10 hour drive to Darwin, a 6 hour drive to Mt Isa and a 4.5 hour drive to Alice Springs, allowing access by plane to the east coast. The town also has a permanent veterinary service, lots of sporting clubs, a butcher, newsagency, pharmacy and a brand new IGA supermarket. Maryann Dam is 5km north of Tennant Creek and offers a playground, BBQ’s, fishing, paddle boarding, swimming and yabbying.
The position comes with a secure 3 bedroom home, electricity subsidies, flights out of isolated location (FOILS) twice a year, a freight allowance for groceries from other towns, no water bills, supported study allowances, a monthly PDO and the ability to flexi time around family commitments.
