This role pro­vides lead­er­ship, man­age­ment, and coor­di­na­tion of com­pre­hen­sive pri­ma­ry and pop­u­la­tion health care, ensur­ing cul­tur­al integri­ty and high stan­dards of clin­i­cal care and client flow. The posi­tion sits with­in the Health Ser­vices Sec­tion and leads a mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary team of Reg­is­tered Nurs­es, Doc­tors, Abo­rig­i­nal Health Prac­ti­tion­ers and Allied Health Professionals.

Miwatj Health is an inde­pen­dent Abo­rig­i­nal Com­mu­ni­ty-Con­trolled Health Ser­vice. Estab­lished in 1992, we’re com­mit­ted to secur­ing qual­i­ty health care ser­vices across the East Arn­hem and enabling Yolŋu pow­ered com­mu­ni­ty health and well­be­ing. Miwatj pro­vides cul­tur­al­ly appro­pri­ate, com­pre­hen­sive pri­ma­ry health care to over 6,000 remote Abo­rig­i­nal and Tor­res Strait Islander res­i­dents across 3 East Arn­hem wards. With a Head Office in Nhu­lun­buy, Miwatj also man­ages a Cor­po­rate Office in Dar­win, 7 fixed clin­ics across the East Arn­hem region, and ded­i­cat­ed out­reach teams who trav­el to 3 addi­tion­al locations.

Essen­tial Requirements

The Clin­ic Man­ag­er will be respon­si­ble for PHC oper­a­tions includ­ing clin­i­cal and per­son­nel man­age­ment to the PHC team, pro­vides sup­port to Miwatj pro­gram inte­gra­tion and vis­it­ing health providers. This role also ensure that the clin­ic oper­ates in a safe and effi­cient way and ensur­ing rel­e­vant leg­is­la­tion, guide­lines, safe­ty, and qual­i­ty stan­dards are adhered to by all staff.

Can­di­dates must have reg­is­tra­tion with AHPRA as a Reg­is­tered Nurse, min­i­mum of 5 years’ expe­ri­ence as a reg­is­tered nurse and will also have an under­stand­ing of and com­mit­ment to Abo­rig­i­nal Com­mu­ni­ty Con­trol, self-deter­mi­na­tion, and the issues faced by Yolŋu peo­ple liv­ing in remote settings.
