Wurli Wurlin­jang Health Ser­vice prides itself on deliv­er­ing a range of health ser­vices to the com­mu­ni­ty in a style and man­ner that makes clients feel wel­come and com­fort­able. Wurli oper­ates a range of clin­ics and pro­vides a range of pri­ma­ry health care and oth­er ser­vices which include main clin­ic (acute and gen­er­al care), Gud­bin­ji Chron­ic Dis­ease Clin­ic, Bin­jari Health Cen­tre, Women and Children’s Health and Men’s Health. Wurli has a range of posi­tions avail­able in our mul­ti-dis­ci­pli­nary team for Reg­is­tered Abo­rig­i­nal Health Prac­ti­tion­ers who have clin­i­cal expe­ri­ence and are keen to make a difference.

The role of an Abo­rig­i­nal Health Prac­ti­tion­er at Wurli encom­pass­es deliv­er­ing safe, high-qual­i­ty clin­i­cal ser­vices, patient care, health pro­mo­tion and edu­ca­tion as part of a mul­ti-dis­ci­pli­nary team. Clin­i­cal ser­vice may include, but are not lim­it­ed to:-

  • Health Screen­ing
  • Pro­vid­ing treat­ment in accor­dance with CARPA protocols
  • Assist clients to make informed deci­sion about their health management
  • Con­tribute to patient care plans
  • Admin­is­ter­ing Immunisations
  • Eye Health Care
  • Ear Health Care
  • Dia­betes Health care
  • Oral Health Care
  • Sex­u­al Health

The posi­tions avail­able incor­po­rate the oppor­tu­ni­ty to work in a range of clin­i­cal envi­ron­ments and devel­op skills and knowl­edge in spe­cialised areas of pri­ma­ry health care ser­vice. Our Abo­rig­i­nal Health Prac­ti­tion­ers use the Com­mu­ni­care patient infor­ma­tion sys­tem to iden­ti­fy care needs and doc­u­ment patient con­sul­ta­tion in patient’s med­ical file and bring to the organ­i­sa­tion a high lev­el of cul­tur­al author­i­ty which assists Doc­tors and oth­er health pro­fes­sion­als with com­mu­ni­ca­tion, treat­ment and any advice rel­e­vant to a client’s treatment.

Key fea­tures of the role:-

  • The posi­tions avail­able are pri­mar­i­ly clin­i­cal roles (requir­ing a Cer­tifi­cate IV in Abo­rig­i­nal and/​or Tor­res Strait Islander Pri­ma­ry Health Care and a cur­rent AHPRA registration)
  • Requires some trav­el to local com­mu­ni­ties to assist edu­cate, pre­vent and facil­i­tate care
  • Inte­gral mem­ber of mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary team
  • Oppor­tu­ni­ty to work in a range of clin­i­cal areas and programs

Sum­ma­ry of terms and con­di­tions of employment:-

  • An ordi­nary work­ing week of 37.5 hours; Mon­day to Friday 
  • Salary sac­ri­fice arrange­ments are available
  • Relo­ca­tion assis­tance (avail­able for *eli­gi­ble applicants)
  • Short term assis­tance with accom­mo­da­tion avail­able for *eli­gi­ble applicants)
  • Oth­er ben­e­fits include:
    • six weeks annu­al leave plus leave load­ing per annum
    • one weeks paid spe­cial leave per annum
    • 15 days per­son­al leave per annum
    • salary sac­ri­fice arrange­ments available

Appli­cants must be ful­ly reg­is­tered as ATSI Pri­ma­ry Health Prac­ti­tion­er with Aus­tralian Health Prac­ti­tion­ers Reg­u­la­tion Agency (AHPRA) and have a Cer­tifi­cate IV in Abo­rig­i­nal and/​or Tor­res Strait Islander Pri­ma­ry Health Care.
