Seek­ing ded­i­cat­ed and pas­sion­ate Gen­er­al Prac­ti­tion­er for a dynam­ic role in War­ruwi. About us

The Red Lily Health Board Abo­rig­i­nal Cor­po­ra­tion (RLHB) is a region­al health ser­vice that aims to empow­er Abo­rig­i­nal peo­ple in the West Arn­hem region, seek­ing to address health issues in the com­mu­ni­ty with the long-term vision improv­ing health out­comes by estab­lish­ing a region­al Abo­rig­i­nal com­mu­ni­ty-con­trolled mod­el of ser­vice delivery.

About the Team

This posi­tion is part of the Red Lily Pri­ma­ry Health Care team that pro­vides pri­ma­ry health care in the West Arn­hem region (includ­ing home­lands). Coor­di­na­tion with oth­er com­mu­ni­ties and teams with­in Red Lily and beyond will be nec­es­sary to ensure that the com­mu­ni­ties receive high qual­i­ty ser­vices and achieve opti­mal outcomes. 

What’s the role?

  • You will be work­ing as part of a mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary remote pri­ma­ry health care team, that man­age client care through­out the lifes­pan, treat ill­ness, pro­mote well­be­ing, pro­vide edu­ca­tion & train­ing, and encour­age com­mu­ni­ty health action to con­tribute to bet­ter health outcomes.
  • Your new role will involve the inte­gra­tion of Indige­nous cul­tur­al imper­a­tives in the deliv­ery of health­care in the con­text of an Abo­rig­i­nal Com­mu­ni­ty Con­trolled Health Service.
  • Oppor­tu­ni­ty to work with­in a ded­i­cat­ed team to advance the health out­comes of the Abo­rig­i­nal com­mu­ni­ty in Warruwi.
  • Share in the devel­op­ment of a per­ma­nent GP ser­vice, based on the unique needs of the res­i­dents of the community.
  • Expe­ri­ence a rare oppor­tu­ni­ty to work with one of the world’s old­est liv­ing cul­tures, with unique clin­i­cal pre­sen­ta­tions as a result of the remote nature of the community.

Before you reach out and apply, we need you to have:

  • Spe­cial­ist Gen­er­al Prac­ti­tion­er reg­is­tra­tion with Med­ical Board of Aus­tralia (AHPRA).
  • Fel­low of the Roy­al Aus­tralian Col­lege of Gen­er­al Prac­ti­tion­ers (RACGP) or the Aus­tralian Col­lege of Rur­al and Remote Med­i­cine (ACR­RM).
  • Open exclu­sive­ly to Aus­tralian cit­i­zens or per­ma­nent residents.
  • Broad-based pri­ma­ry care expe­ri­ence in a rural/​remote set­ting, ide­al­ly in Indige­nous health.
  • Abil­i­ty to inter­act effec­tive­ly with peo­ple from dif­fer­ent cultures.
  • Cul­tur­al aware­ness and knowl­edge of cur­rent issues impact­ing remote Indige­nous communities.
  • Accred­i­ta­tion or expe­ri­ence as a GP super­vi­sor is advantageous.

The North­ern Ter­ri­to­ry PHN may be able to offer gen­er­ous finan­cial assis­tance to Gen­er­al Prac­ti­tion­ers who are relo­cat­ing to the NT or where they are mov­ing with­in the NT, to a more remote location.
