Mala’la Health Service is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our dynamic, multi-disciplinary team in Maningrida, NT.

As the Tuber­cu­lo­sis (TB) Pro­gram Nurse, you will facil­i­tate the imple­men­ta­tion of TB pro­gram activ­i­ties in Man­ingri­da and sur­round­ing homelands/​outstations. This is a unique posi­tion fund­ed by the Men­zies School of Health Research through the Remote Abo­rig­i­nal Com­mu­ni­ties End­ing TB (REACT) Project. The TB Pro­gram Nurse will work col­lab­o­ra­tive­ly with Mala’la, the North­ern Ter­ri­to­ry Cen­tre for Dis­ease Con­trol and Men­zies School of Health Research

About Mala’la

Mala’la Health Ser­vice is a respect­ed & accred­it­ed Abo­rig­i­nal Cor­po­ra­tion pro­vid­ing ser­vices to the sea­side com­mu­ni­ty of Man­ingri­da (520 km east of Dar­win), with a pop­u­la­tion of approx­i­mate­ly 3,000 peo­ple. These ser­vices include Pri­ma­ry Health Care, Aged & Com­mu­ni­ty Care, Fam­i­ly & Com­mu­ni­ty Well­ness, Drugs & Alco­hol Ser­vices. Mala’la Health Ser­vice pro­vides Pri­ma­ry Health Care ser­vices to Man­ingri­da and sur­round­ing home­lands under a Com­mu­ni­ty Con­trol model. 

Essen­tial Requirements

The role will see you work­ing in a remote Abo­rig­i­nal Com­mu­ni­ty. All appli­cants must have an under­stand­ing of, and com­mit­ment to Abo­rig­i­nal Com­mu­ni­ty Con­trol, self-deter­mi­na­tion, and the issues faced by Abo­rig­i­nal peo­ple liv­ing in remote settings.

  • Cur­rent AHPRA Reg­is­tra­tion and Prac­tic­ing Cer­tifi­cate as a Reg­is­tered Nurse
  • Cur­rent Remote Emer­gency Care Course cer­tifi­cate and/​or Advance Life Sup­port certificate
  • Cur­rent accred­it­ed Immu­ni­sa­tion cer­tifi­cate (recog­nised in the NT) or work­ing towards same
  • Med­i­cines Man­age­ment mod­ule (with­in the last 12 months) 
  • Min­i­mum 3 years broad nurs­ing expe­ri­ence post reg­is­tra­tion, with advanced clin­i­cal skills and com­pe­ten­cies applic­a­ble to remote set­tings (includ­ing the abil­i­ty to triage, work inde­pen­dent­ly and par­tic­i­pate in emer­gency calls and First Response)
  • Cur­rent Driver’s Licence 
  • Sat­is­fac­to­ry Crim­i­nal His­to­ry Check
  • Cur­rent NT Work­ing with Chil­dren Clearance
