Miwatj Health Aboriginal Corporation (MHAC) is seeking a dedicated Child and Adolescent Health Nurse to lead the development and delivery of high-quality, culturally appropriate health services for children and adolescents (aged 0-17 years) across East Arnhem Land, with a primary focus on Zone 2 communities (Galiwin'ku, Gapuwiyak, Milingimbi, Ramingining)

In this role, you will pro­vide strate­gic direc­tion, clin­i­cal gov­er­nance, and pro­gram sup­port to ensure the safe­ty and effec­tive­ness of child and ado­les­cent health ser­vices with­in Miwatj’s Pri­ma­ry Health Care sec­tor. You will work close­ly with Abo­rig­i­nal Health Prac­ti­tion­ers, Com­mu­ni­ty Work­ers, and remote PHC teams to strength­en child and ado­les­cent health programs.

This posi­tion requires reg­u­lar trav­el by 4WD or light air­craft for up to five days at a time with­in the Miwatj Region.

Essen­tial Requirements

The ide­al can­di­date will have a strong under­stand­ing of and com­mit­ment to Abo­rig­i­nal Com­mu­ni­ty Con­trol and self-deter­mi­na­tion, along with an aware­ness of the chal­lenges faced by Yol­ngu peo­ple in remote com­mu­ni­ties. A min­i­mum of five years of broad nurs­ing expe­ri­ence post-reg­is­tra­tion is required, with rel­e­vant ter­tiary or post-grad­u­ate qual­i­fi­ca­tions in Pae­di­atrics or Child/​Adolescent Health. The can­di­date must hold a cur­rent NT Work­ing with Children’s Check (Ochre Card) and an NT-recog­nised Immu­ni­sa­tion Provider Cer­tifi­cate (SA DoH cer­tifi­cate). Demon­strat­ed expe­ri­ence in devel­op­ing con­tin­u­ous qual­i­ty improve­ment pro­grams with­in Pri­ma­ry Health Care, along with knowl­edge of Indige­nous health, cul­ture, and social deter­mi­nants of health in remote set­tings, is essen­tial. A strong com­mit­ment to team­work, knowl­edge-shar­ing, and reg­u­lar trav­el to remote areas by 4WD or light air­craft is also required.
