To be suc­cess­ful, you will have…

  • An endorse­ment for sched­uled med­i­cines for mid­wives with the Nurs­ing and Mid­wifery Board of Australia.
  • Advanced clin­i­cal expe­ri­ence, knowl­edge and lead­er­ship in mid­wifery care across the continuum.
  • Well-devel­oped clin­i­cal prob­lem-solv­ing skills includ­ing con­cep­tu­al and ana­lyt­i­cal ability.
  • Excel­lent inter­per­son­al, ver­bal and writ­ten com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills includ­ing nego­ti­a­tion skills.
  • Sound knowl­edge of rel­e­vant leg­isla­tive and health reg­u­lat­ing Acts includ­ing leg­isla­tive obligations.
  • Expe­ri­ence in qual­i­ty improve­ment, its prac­ti­cal appli­ca­tion in meet­ing patient’s needs and its rela­tion­ship to strate­gic development.

Posi­tion Profile:

This role pro­vides advanced mid­wifery assess­ment, diag­no­sis, care and inter­ven­tion to preg­nant peo­ple and fam­i­lies with­in the scope of prac­tice of an Endorsed Mid­wife. The occu­pant of this posi­tion will be expect­ed to com­ply with and demon­strate a pos­i­tive com­mit­ment to the WACHS val­ues and the high­est achieve­ment in demon­strat­ing pos­i­tive com­mit­ment to Equal Employ­ment Oppor­tu­ni­ty, Occu­pa­tion­al Safe­ty & Health, Pub­lic Sec­tor Stan­dards, Code of Con­duct, Code of Ethics, Qual­i­ty Improve­ment, Per­for­mance Man­age­ment, Cus­tomer Focus, Dis­abil­i­ty Ser­vices Act and Con­fi­den­tial­i­ty through­out the course of their duties.

Eli­gi­ble nurs­es and mid­wives can receive between $5,000 and $17,000 in sup­port over 12 months. The WA Coun­try Health Ser­vice (WACHS) Mid­west health region of West­ern Aus­tralia cov­ers more than 470,000 square kilo­me­tres, near­ly one fifth of the State, with its pop­u­la­tion con­cen­trat­ed along the coast.
