The Role:

An excep­tion­al oppor­tu­ni­ty has arisen for a dynam­ic clin­i­cal leader to join the West Coast Dis­trict Hos­pi­tal as a Clin­i­cal Nurse Con­sul­tant. In this piv­otal role, you will pro­vide clin­i­cal lead­er­ship and sup­port in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the Nurse Unit Man­ag­er and Direc­tor of Nurs­ing, focus­ing on coor­di­nat­ing top-notch nurs­ing and sup­port ser­vices for inpa­tients and emer­gency pre­sen­ta­tions. You will also spear­head the devel­op­ment, imple­men­ta­tion, and eval­u­a­tion of care improve­ment ini­tia­tives to ensure out­stand­ing ser­vice delivery.

We are seek­ing an enthu­si­as­tic indi­vid­ual with a deep under­stand­ing of rur­al health nurs­ing and a pas­sion for enhanc­ing patient care. Your role will involve fos­ter­ing a cul­ture of crit­i­cal think­ing, research, and con­tin­u­ous improve­ment. You will sup­port the NUM in admin­is­tra­tive and ser­vice deliv­ery plan­ning and dri­ve inno­v­a­tive ini­tia­tives in qual­i­ty safe­ty pro­grams and clin­i­cal prac­tice standards.

As a Clin­i­cal Nurse Con­sul­tant, your excel­lent com­mu­ni­ca­tion and inter­per­son­al skills will be essen­tial in build­ing strong work­ing rela­tion­ships with staff and the com­mu­ni­ty. Your abil­i­ty to inspire, influ­ence, and deliv­er clear mes­sages will help ensure cohe­sive team­work and high stan­dards of care. Ide­al­ly, you will hold rel­e­vant post­grad­u­ate qual­i­fi­ca­tions and have expe­ri­ence in Emer­gency Nursing.

Details of appointment:

Per­ma­nent, full time, day work­er (with on-call) posi­tion, work­ing 76 hours per fort­night, com­menc­ing from March 2025.

Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum. Our Employ­er 11.5% super­an­nu­a­tion con­tri­bu­tion is on top of this amount.

In addi­tion, the fol­low­ing allowances cal­cu­lat­ed on the salaried incre­men­tal point may be available: 

  • Post Grad­u­ate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qual­i­fi­ca­tion type 

Salary Pack­ag­ing:

You’ll have access to salary pack­age a range of ben­e­fits includ­ing liv­ing expens­es up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal enter­tain­ment each FBT year + oth­er ben­e­fits if eligible. 

  • Remote and Rur­al Pro­fes­sion­al Devel­op­ment Allowance of $3,699 per annum and an addi­tion­al salary allowance of 10

Ben­e­fits avail­able to eli­gi­ble candidates

  • Pay­ment of $15,000 staged over three years is avail­able for Nurs­es and Mid­wives who move to Tas­ma­nia from inter­state and remain employed full time for three years or more, on top of relo­ca­tion allowance already available.
  • Trav­el and relo­ca­tion assis­tance sup­port avail­able up to $15,000 for eli­gi­ble appointees from over­seas, and up to $10,000 for appointees from interstate.
  • Pro­fes­sion­al devel­op­ment and accel­er­at­ed pathways.
  • A range of leave enti­tle­ments, includ­ing study leave and Pro­fes­sion­al Devel­op­ment Support.
  • Fit­ness Pass­port – You, and your fam­i­ly can access 40+ fit­ness facil­i­ties across Tas­ma­nia for just $13.95 per week per per­son, or $25.95 for a family.
