The focus of our depart­ment is to lead the imple­men­ta­tion of safe­ty and qual­i­ty pro­grams and sup­port Hos­pi­tals South to mon­i­tor qual­i­ty improve­ment, pro­vid­ing the best pos­si­ble care for our patients and their sup­port net­works. The Role:

The Clin­i­cal Nurse Con­sul­tant (CNC) — Con­sumer Engage­ment facil­i­tates and advo­cates for a strong, diverse con­sumer voice as well as pro­mot­ing effec­tive engage­ment between health con­sumers and health ser­vices for Hos­pi­tal South. This role is respon­si­ble for ele­vat­ing the con­sumer voice to influ­ence strate­gic plan­ning activ­i­ties and ensure align­ment with Tas­ma­nia Health Ser­vice (THS) and Depart­ment of Health con­sumer engage­ment frame­works and policies.

The role will involve

  • Active par­tic­i­pa­tion and con­tri­bu­tion to the effec­tive oper­a­tion of the Con­sumer and Com­mu­ni­ty Engage­ment Coun­cil with­in Hos­pi­tals South
  • Pro­vid­ing clin­i­cal advice, lead­er­ship and direc­tion to rel­e­vant key stake­hold­ers regard­ing adher­ence to the Part­ner­ing with Con­sumers nation­al stan­dard (Stan­dard 2
  • Build capac­i­ty amongst health con­sumer rep­re­sen­ta­tives and in con­sumer organ­i­sa­tions and health organ­i­sa­tions to engage con­sumers effectively

To effec­tive­ly per­form this role, you will need 

  • Demon­strat­ed high lev­el inter­per­son­al, com­mu­ni­ca­tion, medi­a­tion, and con­flict res­o­lu­tion skills, with the abil­i­ty to effec­tive­ly liaise with a broad range of inter­nal and exter­nal stake­hold­ers with a demon­strat­ed abil­i­ty to influ­ence and moti­vate staff
  • Thor­ough under­stand­ing of the Nation­al Safe­ty and Qual­i­ty Health Ser­vice (NSQHS) Stan­dards par­tic­u­lar­ly Stan­dard 2
  • High­ly devel­oped organ­i­sa­tion­al and project man­age­ment skills includ­ing expe­ri­ence lead­ing qual­i­ty improve­ment activities

Details of appointment:

Per­ma­nent, part time, day work­er posi­tion, work­ing up to 60.8 hours per fort­night, com­menc­ing from as soon as you can join our team.

Appli­cants should note that, for a peri­od of twelve months from the date of pub­li­ca­tion, this selec­tion process may be used to fill sub­se­quent or sim­i­lar full time, part time, and casu­al vacancies.

Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employ­er 11.5% super­an­nu­a­tion con­tri­bu­tion is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accor­dance with Nurs­es and Mid­wives (Tas­ma­nia State Ser­vice) Agree­ment 2023.

In addi­tion, the fol­low­ing allowances cal­cu­lat­ed on the salaried incre­men­tal point may be available: 

  • Post Grad­u­ate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qual­i­fi­ca­tion type
