The Clinical Nurse Specialist - Intensive Care Liaison (CNS) is a clinical expert who acts as a clinical/educational resource for nursing, medical and allied health staff involved in the management of patients with complex care needs within the ward setting, working with other members of the multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care for patients.

The Role:

The North West Region­al Hos­pi­tal are seek­ing ded­i­cat­ed Clin­i­cal Nurse Spe­cial­ists to join our team in the ICU.

The Clin­i­cal Nurse Spe­cial­ist — Inten­sive Care Liai­son (CNS) is a clin­i­cal expert who acts as a clinical/​educational resource for nurs­ing, med­ical and allied health staff involved in the man­age­ment of patients with com­plex care needs with­in the ward set­ting, work­ing with oth­er mem­bers of the mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary team to deliv­er com­pre­hen­sive care for patients.

A key role of the posi­tion is to devel­op and main­tain col­lab­o­ra­tive links between nurs­ing, med­ical and allied health staff and the Inten­sive Care Unit (ICU). The CNS acts as a bridge between the skills and resources of the ICU and the ward envi­ron­ment, sup­port­ing con­ti­nu­ity of care and patient flow, min­imis­ing relo­ca­tion stress for patients and their families.

The CNS will iden­ti­fy qual­i­ty improve­ment or research activ­i­ties on a hos­pi­tal-wide approach and imple­ment appro­pri­ate strate­gies to improve prac­tice. Expect­ed out­puts are an improve­ment in patient out­comes, staff sat­is­fac­tion, patient safe­ty and an over­all reduc­tion in Inten­sive Care length of stay and readmissions.

Mul­ti­ple vacan­cies avail­able, let us know what works for you:

Per­ma­nent, part time, shift work­er posi­tion, work­ing up to 32 hours per fort­night, com­menc­ing from a mutu­al­ly agree upon date.

Fixed term, part time, shift work­er posi­tion, work­ing up to 56 hours per fort­night, com­menc­ing as soon as pos­si­ble until May 2025.

*notwith­stand­ing hours to be nego­ti­at­ed with the suc­cess­ful applicant.

Appli­cants should note that, for a peri­od of twelve months from the date of pub­li­ca­tion, this selec­tion process may be used to fill sub­se­quent or sim­i­lar part time and casu­al vacancies.

Salary: $106,570 to $112,440 pro rata, per annum. Our Employ­er 11.5% super­an­nu­a­tion con­tri­bu­tion is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accor­dance with Nurs­es and Mid­wives (Tas­man­ian State Ser­vice) Agree­ment 2023

Allowances:

You’ll have access to salary pack­age a range of ben­e­fits includ­ing liv­ing expens­es up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal enter­tain­ment each FBT year + oth­er ben­e­fits if eligible.

Pay­ment of $15,000 staged over three years is avail­able for Nurs­es and Mid­wives who move to Tas­ma­nia from inter­state and remain employed full time for three years or more, on top of relo­ca­tion allowance already available.

In addi­tion, the fol­low­ing allowances cal­cu­lat­ed on the salaried incre­men­tal point may be available:

  • Post Grad­u­ate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qual­i­fi­ca­tion type

Ben­e­fits avail­able to eli­gi­ble candidates 

  • Trav­el and relo­ca­tion assis­tance sup­port avail­able up to $15,000 for eli­gi­ble appointees. 
  • Pro­fes­sion­al devel­op­ment and accel­er­at­ed pathways.
  • Excel­lent leave ben­e­fits: 20 days annu­al leave (pro rata), 20 days per­son­al leave (pro rata), and study assis­tance leave if eligible.
  • Fit­ness Pass­port – You, and your fam­i­ly can access 40+ fit­ness facil­i­ties across Tas­ma­nia for just $13.95 per week per per­son, or $25.95 for a family.

Eli­gi­bil­i­ty:

Suc­cess­ful appli­cants will be required to meet the essen­tial criteria.

  • Reg­is­tered with the Nurs­ing and Mid­wifery Board of Aus­tralia as a Reg­is­tered Nurse

Appli­cants should note the fol­low­ing cri­te­ria are desirable:

  • Holds a rel­e­vant Post Grad­u­ate Crit­i­cal Care Qual­i­fi­ca­tion or has had a min­i­mum of 5 years’ expe­ri­ence in ICU as a senior clin­i­cian and is work­ing towards a Post Grad­u­ate Crit­i­cal Care Qualification
