We are seeking an experienced Ear Health Coordinator to support the Primary Health Care (PHC) sector in improving ear health outcomes for children and families in the Miwatj Health region

We are seek­ing an expe­ri­enced Ear Health Coor­di­na­tor to sup­port the Pri­ma­ry Health Care (PHC) sec­tor in improv­ing ear health out­comes for chil­dren and fam­i­lies in the Miwatj Health region. This role involves pro­mot­ing a con­tin­u­ous qual­i­ty improve­ment (CQI) approach, facil­i­tat­ing health pro­mo­tion, and devel­op­ing skills to enhance ear health ser­vices. The coor­di­na­tor will play a key role in improv­ing inte­gra­tion between PHC and spe­cial­ist ser­vices, coor­di­nat­ing refer­rals for sur­gi­cal and spe­cial­ist ear health ser­vices, and ensur­ing increased engage­ment with appoint­ments. Work­ing close­ly with com­mu­ni­ty work­ers, local com­mu­ni­ties, and the Child Health Pro­gram Lead, the coor­di­na­tor will plan and imple­ment cul­tur­al­ly appro­pri­ate health pro­mo­tion initiatives.

This role is based in either Dar­win or Nhu­lun­buy, with no hous­ing provided.

Miwatj Health is an inde­pen­dent Abo­rig­i­nal Com­mu­ni­ty-Con­trolled Health Ser­vice. Estab­lished in 1992, we’re com­mit­ted to secur­ing qual­i­ty health care ser­vices across the East Arn­hem and enabling Yolŋu pow­ered com­mu­ni­ty health and well­be­ing. With a Head Office in Nhu­lun­buy, Miwatj also man­ages a Cor­po­rate Office in Dar­win, 7 fixed clin­ics across the East Arn­hem region, and ded­i­cat­ed out­reach teams who trav­el to 3 addi­tion­al locations.

Essen­tial Requirements

We are seek­ing a com­pas­sion­ate and expe­ri­enced Reg­is­tered Nurse (AHPRA-reg­is­tered, with­out con­di­tions) with a min­i­mum of three years post­grad­u­ate expe­ri­ence and a strong under­stand­ing of ear health and its impact on Abo­rig­i­nal and Tor­res Strait Islander pop­u­la­tions. The suc­cess­ful can­di­date will demon­strate a com­mit­ment to Abo­rig­i­nal Com­mu­ni­ty Con­trol and self-deter­mi­na­tion, pos­sess cul­tur­al aware­ness of the chal­lenges faced by Yol­ngu peo­ple in remote com­mu­ni­ties, and have proven abil­i­ty to col­lab­o­rate effec­tive­ly with­in mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary teams and with exter­nal stake­hold­ers to deliv­er impact­ful health outcomes.
