Home to approximately 2000 Yarnangu (Ngaanyatjarra people) across 11 unique communities, our council is dedicated to preserving and celebrating our rich heritage spanning over 10,000 years and 250,000 square kilometres.
Established in 1981, the Ngaanyatjarra Council Group (NCG) represents the interests of the Ngaanyatjarra People across the 11 communities in the Central Desert region of Western Australia. Employing in excess of 450 people, NCG provides a wide range of services, including health, utilities, construction, employment, community development, shops, roadhouses, art centres and land services. It is one of the largest and most successful Indigenous organisations in the country.

The Opportunity:
This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to join the Ngaanyatjarra Council Group as a Male Primary Health Care Nurse to conduct health assessments for men’s health to community members and coordinate follow-up treatment as needed. Participate in sexual health screening and education programs targeted toward male populations, while maintaining the service delivery of existing men’s health initiatives and promotions. Engage in Continuous Quality Improvement activities to ensure high standards of care. Facilitate health education sessions covering topics like men’s sexual health, chronic disease, and healthy living, empowering individuals to make informed health decisions.
About You:
You are a dedicated and experienced Primary Health Care Nurse with a passion for working in diverse and remote settings. With a minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a Men’s Health Pogram. You bring a wealth of knowledge and a proactive approach to delivering high-quality health care. Your current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse reflects your commitment to professional standards.
Your highly developed interpersonal and communication skills enable you to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team, particularly in culturally diverse and language-rich settings. You have a strong understanding of Aboriginal health issues and are adept at applying the principles of Primary Health Care within complex remote practice environments.
You are known for your ability to manage and promote change, your dedication to Quality Improvement and evidence-based practice, and your commitment to ongoing professional development. Proficient in a range of information technologies, you are well-equipped to handle patient information and data management systems. Your enthusiasm for making a meaningful impact in a vibrant and culturally significant community makes you an ideal fit for this position.
