Katherine West Health Board (KWHB) is currently looking for a Mobile Team Remote Area Nurse (MTRAN) This position requires at least 3-5 years post graduate experience with demonstrated advanced clinical skills and competencies applicable to remote area nursing. With an understanding of Aboriginal cultural values, and commitment to the advancement and self-determination of Aboriginal communities.
Established in 1998, Katherine West Health Board is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation that provides a range of clinical, preventative and public health services to clients in the Katherine West Region of the Northern Territory. With four major health care centres and a range of satellite centres, KWHB services an area over two times the size of Tasmania (162,000km²), helping to improve the health and wellbeing of some of the most remote communities in Australia.
About the Opportunity
The Mobile Team Remote Area Nurse position delivers Primary Health Care and health program support to remote area residents living on cattle stations, Aboriginal communities/outstations, and NT Parks situated in the Katherine West region.
Responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
- Provide quality primary health care to individuals, families, and the community within own competency level, KWHB endorsed protocols and the CARPA Manual to meet expected client needs.
- Provide well person checks and advice and support in program areas of sexual health, mental health, women’s and men’s health, child health, chronic disease, allied health services and social and emotional wellbeing.
- Refer and link clients to other health professionals and appropriate support organisations.
- Maintain information systems required for the effective management of clients.
- Support and participate in Quality Improvement activities within the Health Centre to enhance the safety and effectiveness of care.
