Katherine West Health Board (KWHB) is currently looking for a Mobile Team Remote Area Nurse (MTRAN) This position requires at least 3-5 years post graduate experience with demonstrated advanced clinical skills and competencies applicable to remote area nursing. With an understanding of Aboriginal cultural values, and commitment to the advancement and self-determination of Aboriginal communities.

Estab­lished in 1998, Kather­ine West Health Board is an Abo­rig­i­nal Com­mu­ni­ty Con­trolled Health Organ­i­sa­tion that pro­vides a range of clin­i­cal, pre­ven­ta­tive and pub­lic health ser­vices to clients in the Kather­ine West Region of the North­ern Ter­ri­to­ry. With four major health care cen­tres and a range of satel­lite cen­tres, KWHB ser­vices an area over two times the size of Tas­ma­nia (162,000km²), help­ing to improve the health and well­be­ing of some of the most remote com­mu­ni­ties in Australia. 

Posi­tion Description

About the Opportunity

The Mobile Team Remote Area Nurse posi­tion deliv­ers Pri­ma­ry Health Care and health pro­gram sup­port to remote area res­i­dents liv­ing on cat­tle sta­tions, Abo­rig­i­nal communities/​outstations, and NT Parks sit­u­at­ed in the Kather­ine West region.

Respon­si­bil­i­ties will include (but not lim­it­ed to):

  • Pro­vide qual­i­ty pri­ma­ry health care to indi­vid­u­als, fam­i­lies, and the com­mu­ni­ty with­in own com­pe­ten­cy lev­el, KWHB endorsed pro­to­cols and the CARPA Man­u­al to meet expect­ed client needs.
  • Pro­vide well per­son checks and advice and sup­port in pro­gram areas of sex­u­al health, men­tal health, women’s and men’s health, child health, chron­ic dis­ease, allied health ser­vices and social and emo­tion­al wellbeing.
  • Refer and link clients to oth­er health pro­fes­sion­als and appro­pri­ate sup­port organisations.
  • Main­tain infor­ma­tion sys­tems required for the effec­tive man­age­ment of clients.
  • Sup­port and par­tic­i­pate in Qual­i­ty Improve­ment activ­i­ties with­in the Health Cen­tre to enhance the safe­ty and effec­tive­ness of care.
