We are seeking Registered Nurses who can provide expert, patient-centred nursing care in a high-pressure Emergency Department setting.

The Team:

The Emer­gency Depart­ment team at Launce­s­ton Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal (LGH), as part of the Depart­ment of Health Tas­ma­nia, con­sists of high­ly skilled emer­gency physi­cians, nurs­es, para­medics, and sup­port staff who col­lab­o­rate to pro­vide urgent and life-sav­ing care to the com­mu­ni­ty. The team utilis­es advanced med­ical pro­to­cols to assess, sta­bilise, and treat patients with acute con­di­tions, rang­ing from trau­ma to med­ical emer­gen­cies. Work­ing close­ly with oth­er depart­ments and com­mu­ni­ty health ser­vices, they ensure time­ly esca­la­tion and trans­fer of crit­i­cal patients to appro­pri­ate care lev­els. Through their com­mit­ment to rapid response and high-qual­i­ty care, the team plays a cru­cial role in safe­guard­ing the health and well-being of Tas­ma­ni­ans. The Role:

  • Pro­vide expert, patient-cen­tred nurs­ing care in a high-pres­sure Emer­gency Depart­ment setting.
  • Deliv­er advanced clin­i­cal care for crit­i­cal­ly ill or injured patients, includ­ing trau­ma, car­diac, and pae­di­atric emergencies.
  • Safe­ly man­age dete­ri­o­rat­ing patients with prompt interventions.
  • Col­lab­o­rate with the care team for com­pre­hen­sive crit­i­cal care management.
  • Man­age mul­ti­ple patient pre­sen­ta­tions simul­ta­ne­ous­ly in a dynam­ic and unpre­dictable environment.

The Depart­ment of Health Tas­ma­nia over­sees var­i­ous hos­pi­tals across the state, includ­ing the Roy­al Hobart Hos­pi­tal, Launce­s­ton Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal, North­west Region­al Hos­pi­tal, and Mersey Com­mu­ni­ty Hos­pi­tal, as well as dis­trict hos­pi­tals and ambu­lance ser­vices. Addi­tion­al­ly, it pro­vides com­mu­ni­ty health, men­tal health, and pri­ma­ry health­care ser­vices to the Tas­man­ian com­mu­ni­ty through more than 300 sites.

Details of appointment:

Mul­ti­ple Per­ma­nent, full time, shift work­er (ful­ly rota­tion­al) posi­tion, work­ing up to 76 hours per fort­night, com­menc­ing from a mutu­al­ly agreed date. 

*notwith­stand­ing hours to be nego­ti­at­ed with the suc­cess­ful applicant.

Appli­cants should note that, for a peri­od of twelve months from the date of pub­li­ca­tion, this selec­tion process may be used to fill sub­se­quent or sim­i­lar full time, part time, and casu­al vacancies.

Salary: $78,179 to $105,995 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employ­er 11.5% super­an­nu­a­tion con­tri­bu­tion is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accor­dance with Nurs­es and Mid­wives (Tas­ma­nia State Ser­vice) Agree­ment 2023.

Access to the Grade 4 salary range $99,455- $105,995 is sub­ject to suc­cess­ful appli­ca­tion for pro­gres­sion to Grade 4

In addi­tion, the fol­low­ing allowances cal­cu­lat­ed on the salaried incre­men­tal point may be available:

  • Post Grad­u­ate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qual­i­fi­ca­tion type

Salary Pack­ag­ing:

You’ll have access to salary pack­age a range of ben­e­fits includ­ing liv­ing expens­es up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal enter­tain­ment each FBT year + oth­er ben­e­fits if eligible. 

Ben­e­fits avail­able to eli­gi­ble candidates:

  • Pay­ment of $15,000 staged over three years is avail­able for Nurs­es and Mid­wives who move to Tas­ma­nia from inter­state and remain employed full time for three years or more, on top of relo­ca­tion allowance already available.
  • Trav­el and relo­ca­tion assis­tance sup­port avail­able up to $15,000 for eli­gi­ble appointees from over­seas, and up to $10,000 for appointees from interstate. 
  • Pro­fes­sion­al devel­op­ment and accel­er­at­ed pathways.
  • A range of leave enti­tle­ments, includ­ing study leave and Pro­fes­sion­al Devel­op­ment Support.
  • Fit­ness Pass­port – You, and your fam­i­ly can access 40+ fit­ness facil­i­ties across Tas­ma­nia for just $13.95 per week per per­son, or $25.95 for a family.
